TrailerPort in Alberthafen Dresden Celebrated Opening
16. June 2024The first groundbreaking for a new, state-of-the-art, automated Swisslog logistics center for Quooker in Nieuw Reijerwaard, Netherlands, has taken place and was appropriately celebrated. Quooker, the inventor of the world’s first boiling water tap, developed in Rotterdam in 1970, has recently experienced tremendous international growth.
(Buchs/Nieuw Reijerwaard) The Dutch company is now operating in 15 countries and required a larger automated facility to continue its sustainable growth. For the development and implementation of the high-tech logistics system, Quooker chose Swisslog, a leading automation expert for data-driven and robot-based logistics. Swisslog will equip the over 23,000 square meter facility with its versatile and efficient pallet stacker crane for high-bay warehouses, “Vectura.”
The highlight of the 20 million euro project is the robot-based stacking and strapping technology, which enables contactless picking and packing. The project includes an automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) that can store over 31,000 pallets and is controlled by Swisslog’s logistics software SynQ. The 30-meter-high automatic pallet racking system allows for maximum storage density and is complemented by pallet and light goods conveyor systems.
“Swisslog is proud to support Quooker on its path to sustainable growth,” says Cees Luijendijk, Managing Director of Swisslog Benelux. “Our intelligent automation solutions provide flexibility and efficiency. With their help, Quooker will be able to sustainably meet customer demand for years to come.”
The new logistics center, equipped with environmentally conscious components such as a rainwater harvesting system, aligns with Quooker’s values and combines all functions in a sustainable facility that operates energy-neutrally.
Commissioning Planned for February 2026
