18. June 2024The drivers’ initiative Moving with Heart e.V. is celebrating its tenth anniversary. The initiative aims to support disadvantaged children and their families. Among other activities, the annual event ‘A Happy Day of Life’ takes place, where truck drivers provide children with a wonderful day. This year’s event was held on June 15, 2024, at the truck stop Nempitz near Leipzig. Volvo Trucks has been a partner since the beginning and supports the initiative with a donation of 5,000 euros.
(Ismaning/Nempitz) Ten years ago, the association Moving with Heart e.V. was founded. The association aims to support disadvantaged children and their families with donations, friendly assistance, and the so-called ‘A Happy Day of Life.’ On this special day, truck drivers pick up socially disadvantaged children each year in a star convoy from various locations and provide them with a wonderful day. At the destination, Volvo Trucks took the opportunity to playfully raise the children’s awareness of traffic safety. The Volvo FH Electric that was brought along was used to explain how dangerous the so-called blind spot can be for other road users.
Manfred Nelles, spokesperson for Volvo Trucks Germany, presented a donation check of 5,000 euros to the board of the initiative, Lars Kuntzmann. “Volvo Trucks congratulates on ten years of Moving with Heart. Voluntary engagement is more important than ever. We are proud to be a partner of the initiative,” said Peter Ström, Managing Director of Volvo Trucks Germany, addressing the organizers.
This year, around 100 drivers with their trucks, the so-called ‘child taxis,’ participated in the event. This event takes place every year in a different federal state in Germany – this time in Saxony.
No more trucks involved in accidents
Volvo Trucks aims to ensure that no truck is involved in an accident. To achieve this goal, it is important to keep an eye on the most vulnerable road users and to prepare children for the topic of traffic safety.
