Logistics Real Estate Market Grows in the First Half of 2024
16. July 2024
Cargoboard now with over 30,000 shipments per month
16. July 2024Four new locations for L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH: The division of the L.I.T. Group is expanding its national and international market presence with the openings in Düsseldorf, Amsterdam, Istanbul, and Nuremberg. This allows the company to be closer to its customers and follows a geostrategic approach: The new locations secure L.I.T. the opportunity to strengthen and further expand its global network.
(Brake) “We are continuing our growth trajectory from the past years. With the new locations, we are where our customers need us and create springboards for global expansion,” says Michael Borowski, Managing Director of L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH. The location opened on March 1 in Amsterdam means immediate proximity to the second most important air freight airport in Europe, and the branch in Istanbul offers location advantages for sea freight due to its closeness to the port. With the Düsseldorf location opened on February 1, the company is represented in a metropolitan area where many of its customers are based. “In Düsseldorf, we can provide local support to our North Rhine-Westphalian existing customers. At the same time, due to our employee structure there, we have good contacts with top South Korean companies, thus creating the opportunity to tap into new markets,” says Borowski.
The expansion of the global network is also a focus for the other location openings. The presence in Amsterdam offers good networking opportunities to Belgium, and the location opened on July 1 in Nuremberg opens the gateway to southern Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. With the presence in Istanbul, L.I.T. Air & Sea GmbH has created the opportunity since June 1 to expand contacts to China, one of Turkey’s most important trading partners.
Borowski sees another location advantage of the Turkish branch due to the currently difficult situation regarding the import of products from Asia: “As part of the L.I.T. Group, we offer our customers flexible solutions. For example, goods from China can first be imported to Istanbul and then transported by truck to Northern Europe.” There is also already the possibility to transport Asian goods not directly to Hamburg, but first to Barcelona and from there by rail to Germany.
Intermediary Between Customers and Service Providers
As an intermediary between customers and service providers and as a member of various global logistics networks, L.I.T. Air & Sea has diverse contacts that also benefit the customers. The new locations lay the foundation for further expanding these contacts. “With these and other planned expansions, our goal is to create synergies within the group and establish a global L.I.T. network. Since the beginning of the year, we have had the necessary internal know-how for global expansion with Andreas Janetzko as Head of International Business Building, thus creating new opportunities that L.I.T. has not had before,” says Borowski. The division aims to double its revenue from 22 million euros last year to 50 million euros in the next two years. While the company hopes to acquire large customers with the new locations in the future, the focus is currently on medium-sized businesses. There, the appreciation for personal service and local support is particularly high.
