18. July 2024The Danish logistics service provider DSV is now supplying dm markets from Neustadt near Coburg. On July 17, the first pallet left the warehouse. The 40,000 square meter property complements the network for supplying dm-drogerie markt stores across Germany. Last Wednesday, the first pallet departed from the newly established warehouse in Neustadt near Coburg.
(Bremen/Neustadt) With this first shipment, the official operation at the new distribution center begins, which the Danish logistics company rented in spring and has since ramped up for distribution. From the new logistics location in Neustadt near Coburg, DSV reaches the 41 local transshipment centers for nationwide supply to dm markets. “The location ideally expands the supply network. We are pleased to now commence operations,” says Rolf Wetzel, Senior Director at DSV. “Neustadt has welcomed us warmly and supported us along the way. We would like to express our gratitude for that,” he adds.
The new distribution center ensures that additional quantities can be distributed to the dm markets. Christian Bodi, managing director at dm responsible for logistics, adds: “With the commissioning of the new distribution center in Neustadt near Coburg, we are also setting the course for a smooth and reliable supply of our over 2,100 dm markets in Germany in the future. That the location can be put into operation so soon is the result of a professional, trusting, and goal-oriented cooperation with DSV, the property developer GLP, and the city of Neustadt near Coburg.”
New Jobs at the Sustainable Location
The Danish logistics company has successfully created 350 new positions in the commercial and administrative sectors at its new location and looks forward to the collaboration. The 40,000 square meter logistics center spans four warehouses. From here, drugstore items are distributed to the transshipment centers and then further to the dm markets. In the coming months, DSV expects 70 to 90 truck trips per day at the location. In the long term, this is expected to increase to 100 to 120.
No Traffic Burden in the Town Due to Good Highway Connection
“However, the good connection to the federal highway means that there is no traffic burden in the town,” says Gary Badura, branch manager at DSV in Neustadt near Coburg. The logistics center was handed over to DSV by the property developer GLP in early May 2024. It features a variety of sustainability measures: The installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof is currently being planned, the building is heated with an air-to-air heat pump, 18 electric car charging stations will be set up, and the building is equipped with LED lighting.
