30. July 2024The German-Austrian Brummer Group now belongs one hundred percent to DACHSER and is thus part of its European network for the transport and storage of temperature-controlled food. This marks the beginning of the complete integration of Brummer into the DACHSER network. Customers will benefit from uniform quality standards.
(Kempten/Neuburg am Inn) In April, DACHSER announced the acquisition of one of the leading food logistics providers in Central Europe with Brummer, in order to expand its own European food logistics network towards Austria and neighboring countries. After receiving the green light from the German and Austrian competition authorities, the acquisition is now complete, and integration into the DACHSER network can begin. The acquisition included Brummer Logistik GmbH and Brummer Logistic Solutions GmbH & Co KG, thus encompassing the entire operational logistics business of the Brummer Group.
As a powerful full-service logistics provider, Brummer specializes in transport, warehousing, and contract logistics services for food, including the frozen sector below -18 degrees Celsius, in southern Germany and Austria. “Together with our recent acquisitions of Müller Fresh Food Logistics in the Netherlands and Frigoscandia in Northern Europe, we are strengthening our position as a food logistics provider in Europe with Brummer,” says Burkhard Eling, CEO of DACHSER.
“Completing the acquisition is a significant step for all of us and a milestone on the path to becoming a top player in the European food logistics market. We are elevating our collaboration with Brummer to a new level.”
Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics and Managing Director DACHSER Food Logistics
Brummer was one of the founding partners of the European Food Network in 2013, which, under DACHSER’s leadership, covers 34 countries in Europe. Within this network, manufacturers, suppliers, and trading companies in the food market have access to a unique network coverage for piece goods transport within Europe. Brummer’s operational logistics business includes over 300 of its own refrigerated trucks, around 85,000 square meters of warehouse space, and an e-commerce fulfillment center in Sankt Marienkirchen. In 2023, Brummer generated a revenue of approximately 128 million euros. As part of the transaction, nearly all of the approximately 950 employees at the two border locations in Neuburg am Inn (DE) and Sankt Marienkirchen near Schärding (AT) have transitioned to DACHSER.
On the Way to Becoming a Top Player in the European Food Logistics Market
“The completion of the acquisition is a significant step for all of us and a milestone on the path to becoming a top player in the European food logistics market. We are elevating our collaboration with Brummer to a new level,” explains Alexander Tonn, COO Road Logistics and Managing Director DACHSER Food Logistics. “With Brummer, we have acquired a renowned food logistics provider that fully shares our understanding of performance and quality. However, the real work begins now with the gradual integration into the DACHSER Food Logistics network,” Tonn adds.
