FRIKUS Focuses on HVO100 Diesel for Domestic Operations
31. August 2024Schmitz Cargobull is investing in the expansion of its central spare parts warehouse at the Altenberge location. The goal is to further improve service for service partners and customers, and to ensure high material availability. The Schmitz Cargobull spare parts business has grown significantly in Europe in recent years. To provide fast and reliable delivery of over 80,000 spare parts, the company is continuously expanding its service offerings.
(Horstmar/Altenberge) With the new narrow aisle warehouse, more storage spaces are now being installed, creating room for additional spare parts. The expanded warehouse will also distribute spare parts for the Berger lightweight vehicles.
“Compared to independent dealers, Schmitz Cargobull offers a decisive advantage: One-stop shopping and parts identification via the chassis number in the EPOS spare parts portal enable quick repairs and high uptime of Schmitz Cargobull trailers,” says Britta Sprey, Managing Director at Cargobull Parts & Services.
The new manually operated narrow aisle warehouse has eight aisles and a shelf height of 14 meters. It offers approximately 3,300 pallet spaces and stores mesh boxes, Euro pallets, and half pallets. Different shelf heights optimize storage utilization. By relocating materials under a roof, shorter paths in the warehouse are enabled, improving process quality. The improved material availability also leads to shorter delivery times, and further measures to expand and enhance storage capacities are planned.
“Today, we have 29 distribution locations across Europe to be able to deliver the most common spare parts for our workshops and customers 24/7. The central warehouse in Altenberge serves as a distribution center for Germany and Austria. From here, we supply the international distribution locations multiple times daily or directly to service partners across Europe as needed,” explains Britta Sprey.
Since January 2023, Schmitz Cargobull has been relying on 100% digital processes in the central warehouse – from delivery to loading. Employees work with hand and finger scanners as well as industrial tablets, enabling efficient and secure processes.
Approximately 80,000 Spare Part Positions
The Schmitz Cargobull spare parts portal EPOS (Electronic Parts Documentation and Ordering System) is a comprehensive database with an impressive selection of around 80,000 spare part positions. The platform provides service partners and customers with their own workshops everything they need for service around the trailer and refrigeration unit. It acts as a convenient “one-stop shop” that allows access to all spare parts from Schmitz Cargobull as well as other brand manufacturers. All common components, chassis, and wear parts are available in the Schmitz Cargobull central warehouse and the 29 distribution locations in Europe. The EPOS portal now contains over 1.4 million documented vehicles. By entering the VIN (chassis number), the service partner can easily identify the required spare parts and order them through the webshop, independent of opening hours or call center availability.
