Hamburg Start-up toern wins the Digital Logistics Award
5. September 2024The Port of Hamburg and duisport are coming closer together. The Port of Duisburg is considered the largest inland port in the world and one of the most important logistics hubs in the European hinterland. The Port of Hamburg is Germany’s largest universal port and is globally connected.
(Hamburg/Duisburg) As a sign of the close and trusting cooperation, duisport has now joined the Hafen Hamburg Marketing e.V. (HHM) association. This membership allows both ports to combine their competencies and extensive networks, thereby leveraging synergies to present a strong voice for the German economy. “With duisport as a new member, we have the opportunity to offer our customers an even broader portfolio of transport solutions through the Port of Hamburg. I am convinced that this collaboration will be a win-win situation,” says Axel Mattern, Managing Director of Hafen Hamburg Marketing.
Shift of Traffic to Water
Both ports see great potential, for example, in the areas of climate protection and shifting traffic to waterways and rail. “To promote a more sustainable and efficient transport logistics, the systems of waterways and rail must be further expanded and modernized. By working together, we increase the attractiveness and competitiveness of both logistics locations,” emphasizes duisport CEO Markus Bangen.
