T+S Helmrath Expands Area for CTL
28. September 2024Starting Sunday, October 6, Austrian Post AG will test Sunday delivery for premium shipping customers. The pilot operation will begin in four districts of Vienna: 1010 Innere Stadt, 1020 Leopoldstadt, 1030 Landstraße, and 1040 Wieden. If the test is successful, the entire city of Vienna, as well as surrounding areas and other state capitals, will follow in the first half of 2025.
(Wien) “It is part of the Post’s innovative strength that we adapt to the needs of the market. In 2015, we introduced Saturday delivery, which is now indispensable. Now we are taking the next step and testing Sunday delivery. This makes us not only a first mover but also brings together market demands and innovation,” explains Walter Oblin, designated General Director, Board Member for Mail & Finance, Austrian Post AG.
“Austrians want to receive their online orders as quickly as possible and on their terms. For the first time, we are therefore testing package delivery on Sundays. With the start in October, we are well prepared for the peak season around Black Friday and Christmas, and our recipients will benefit from even higher delivery speed,” says Peter Umundum, Managing Director for Parcel & Logistics, Austrian Post AG.
Advance Notice to Recipients
To ensure that recipients are not surprised on Sunday, they will receive a notification in advance via email or the Post App that their package will be delivered on Sunday. For the delivery itself, the Post employs external transport companies, pays a Sunday surcharge, and ensures a work time compensation.
