8. November 2024DKV Mobility, a leading platform for international mobility services, welcomes the validation of its climate reduction targets by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The company is committed to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2050. As part of its ongoing commitment to reach the net-zero target by 2050, DKV Mobility has set short-term goals and aims to reduce its emissions by 42 percent by 2030 compared to the base year 2022.
The validation by SBTi confirms that DKV Mobility’s new climate reduction targets are in line with climate science and the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Agreement.
Jana Eggerding-Tenhagen, Chief Human Resources Officer and responsible for sustainability at DKV Mobility, says: “As a leading platform for international mobility services, we are very proud that our new ambitious climate reduction targets have been validated by the high standards of the Science Based Targets Initiative. Participating in this global initiative not only gives us the assurance that we are on the right track with our decarbonization efforts, but also that we are contributing to a larger collective effort.”
SBTi has validated the following targets of DKV Mobility:
Short-term Goals
- Reduction of absolute greenhouse gas emissions from Scopes 1¹ + 2² by 42% by 2030 compared to the base year 2022.
- Reduction of absolute greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 3³ from purchased goods and services as well as from the use of sold fuels by 42% by 2030 compared to the base year 2022.
Long-term Goals
- Reduction of absolute greenhouse gas emissions from Scopes 1 + 2 by 90% by 2050 compared to the base year 2022.
- Reduction of absolute greenhouse gas emissions in Scope 3 from purchased goods and services as well as from the use of sold fuels by 90% by 2050 compared to the base year 2022.
To achieve these ambitious goals, DKV Mobility aims to reduce emissions in its own operations by lowering energy consumption, optimizing along the fuel value chain, and utilizing more sustainable product and service solutions. DKV Mobility will continue to report transparently on progress in implementing decarbonization.
SBTi is an independent climate protection organization that enables companies worldwide to contribute to combating the climate crisis. The initiative aims for companies to do their part in achieving the 1.5-degree target of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Explanations
