Shenzhen Airport in the Greater Bay Area Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao is an important player in the e-commerce sector and has seen a significant increase in air traffic volume in cross-border e-commerce.
(Frankfurt/Shenzhen) Since July 2024, Lufthansa Cargo has been offering a scheduled freight connection between Shenzhen and Frankfurt twice a week. This utilizes the logistical advantages of both international hubs to meet the growing demand in the e-commerce segment, particularly to Europe. Furthermore, Lufthansa Cargo and Shenzhen Airport Group Co., Ltd. have successfully operated the International Cargo Centre Shenzhen (ICCS) as joint shareholders since 2004, which is officially registered as Shenzhen Airport International Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd.
Last week, time:matters Courier Terminals GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of time:matters GmbH, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Cargo Centre Shenzhen, marking an important step towards successful collaboration in providing high-performance logistics handling services. The two companies have agreed to build a forward-looking relationship.
“The collaboration with the International Cargo Centre Shenzhen (ICCS), which has been providing high-quality cargo handling services for 20 years, represents a forward-looking partnership in the logistics industry that further promotes global business,” said Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, who attended the ceremonial signing in Frankfurt.
Wong Ching Hao Ben, General Manager of Shenzhen Airport International Cargo Terminal Co., Ltd., said at the signing of the MoU: “This is the culmination of the entire corporate development strategy of ICCS, which aligns with the strategy of Shenzhen Airport Group and China’s national strategic planning for the Greater Bay Area.”
Ideal Complement
“The handling services and innovative drive of time:matters and ICCS complement each other ideally. time:matters offers the fastest cargo handling with the highest process quality on routes that run, among others, through our courier terminals in Frankfurt (FRA) and Shanghai (PVG),” said Bernhard zur Strassen, CEO of time:matters GmbH. “From this collaboration, we expect mutual benefits for both sides and further strengthening of our global growth trajectory in the logistics industry.”
