Panattoni hands over logistics property in Landsberg to Dachser
19. December 2024The collaboration between Körber Supply Chain Software and the Walbusch Group continues at the 76,000 sqm logistics center in Ravenna Park in Halle (Westphalia). The capacity expansions are motivated by Walbusch’s decision to increase efficiency in customer fulfillment and invest in automated and software-supported logistics components. The management of the highly automated facility, designed for increased throughput, will continue to be handled by Körber’s Warehouse Management System (WMS).
(Hamburg/Halle-Westphalia) Since its introduction in 2015, Körber Supply Chain Software’s WMS has been in use at the facility in Ravenna Park. Since 2021, Körber and the WB Logistik GmbH, established by the Walbusch Group, have been working together to improve the site’s performance. Körber has already mapped the new multi-client architecture for WB Logistik in the existing system. The collaboration continues with the goal of improving the efficiency of the site for processing existing B2B and new B2C business. Körber and WB Logistik are expanding existing IT processes, making technological adjustments, and implementing profound changes to process structures.
While B2B logistics focuses on bulk and large quantities, B2C logistics processes an increasing number of individual orders. Both sales channels are to be served by a fully automated conveyor process in the future, while each individual item should still be locatable in the warehouse via RFID technology. The site is expected to commence high-load operations in 2026.
“We have built a close relationship with the WB Logistik team, as we always aim to fully understand new requirements and develop the best solution together,” explains Dirk Teschner, Senior Vice President and Managing Director Germany. “Both a mutual ‘understanding’ and a clear, shared objective have contributed to the development of an integrated software and automation solution that meets the growing demands of today’s and tomorrow’s online and retail trade.”
Distinct System and Integration Features
“Top logistics requires top performance, which is only possible through distinct system and integration features. The continued collaboration with Körber is understood as a sustainable partnership characterized by continuity – but also innovation, to reflect the transformation of our business processes in logistics,” says Thomas Mathes, member of the management board / head of logistics projects at Walbusch.
