IMS Fraunhofer with “WMS MARKET REPORT COMPACT 2024”
20. December 2024The rating agency Moody’s Investors Service (Moody’s) has today upgraded the credit rating of Hapag-Lloyd by one level from “Ba2” to “Ba1”. This is the highest credit rating that Hapag-Lloyd has received since Moody’s introduced ratings in 2010. Additionally, the rating for senior unsecured bonds was raised by two levels from ‘Ba3’ to ‘Ba1’. The ratings carry a stable outlook.
With the improved ratings, Moody’s acknowledges Hapag-Lloyd’s strong corporate performance in a challenging geopolitical environment. The continued prudent balance sheet management and strong liquidity position were also positively highlighted. The upgrade of the bond rating by two levels was primarily due to the high proportion of unencumbered assets.
Maintain prudent financial policy
“We are very pleased that Moody’s has once again recognized the earning power of Hapag-Lloyd as well as our consistent balance sheet and liquidity management with an upgrade. We will maintain our prudent financial policy and work intensively within the framework of our Strategy 2030 to further improve our competitive and cost position,” said Mark Frese, CFO/CPO of Hapag-Lloyd AG.
