14. January 2025Dr. Miele Cosmed, one of the leading FMCG manufacturers in Europe, has been relying on Digital Pooling with inter.PAL at its Hamburg location since November 1, 2024. The smart solution replaces the management of pallet accounts with Excel.
(Möhnesee/Hamburg) In the inter.PAL Digital Pooling, incoming and outgoing pallets are digitally recorded in the inter.PAL online portal and transparently booked in the corresponding accounts (sender/recipient). Data collection can be done either manually, by transferring one’s own shipment data, or via an interface. While account reconciliation between the parties is possible, it is no longer mandatory, as all bookings occur in real-time in the inter.PAL portal and are immediately visible to all parties involved. inter.PAL also takes care of the organization of the Europe-wide return and the inspection and maintenance of the pallets.
“From Hamburg, we ship about 100,000 pallets annually, for example, to the Rossmann warehouses across Germany. Until now, we have documented the whereabouts of these pallets laboriously and manually and organized the return of the load carriers ourselves,” explains Anastasia Sobolev, Key Account Manager at Dr. Miele Cosmed GmbH. “With the switch to inter.PAL, we are seeing a significantly accelerated turnover of pallets as well as absolute transparency regarding debits and credits – and this without a large manpower requirement. At the same time, we are significantly reducing our transport effort, as no empty load carriers need to travel across Germany to balance our pallet accounts.”
Among the other advantages for the FMCG manufacturer is the reliable and timely supply of high-quality Euro pallets, ensured by the Europe-wide network of depots and thousands of customer spots from inter.PAL. At each of these depots and spots, pallets and other load carriers can be flexibly dropped off and picked up as needed. Alternatively, load carriers can be delivered to the desired quality level (NEW, A, B, or C according to EPAL/UIC and GS1) directly to the customer’s premises upon request.
Focus on production and marketing of products
“While we relieve Dr. Miele Cosmed of the organization, account management, and return of pallets, the FMCG manufacturer can fully concentrate on the production and marketing of its high-quality products,” says Waltraut Hillebrand, Head of Account Management at inter.PAL.
