(Osnabrück) The association “Blood Transports e.V.” is an initiative of the logistics industry that was founded in 2020. The threads come together at the NOSTA Group in Osnabrück, where CEO Nicolas Gallenkamp is the initiator of this non-profit organization. In an interview with Loginfo24, he explains the key points of the initiative.
Loginfo24: Nicolas Gallenkamp: What was the trigger for the founding of the initiative “Blood Transports e.V.”?
Nicolas Gallenkamp: My younger sister passed away from acute leukemia 19 years ago at the age of 19. In search of answers to the why, I delved deeply into this disease. Since blood supplies the circulation and logistics also supplies customers with goods, the name and initiative “Blood Transports” emerged. Logistics, as the third-largest industry in Germany with around 3 million employees, is a huge target group with many companies, and we can achieve enough attention.
Can you explain what “Blood Transports” is and what goal the initiative pursues?
“Blood Transports e.V.” is a non-profit association that was founded as an initiative in 2020 and officially registered in 2022. We are a coalition of over 50 companies from the logistics industry across Germany. Our common goal is to actively support the fight against blood cancer and other diseases of the blood-forming system. We achieve this by organizing blood donation and stem cell typing campaigns, charity events, and participating in charity events.
How can companies become part of your initiative?
Companies that wish to join us are warmly welcomed. We expect our partners to conduct at least one action per year to support our common goal. The type of action can vary – from blood donation calls to typing campaigns to fundraising or charity events. We provide support in planning and executing these actions and supply promotional materials.
What role does the logistics industry play in this context?
The logistics industry is the backbone of our economy and society. Our partner companies use their resources and networks to transport vital donations and organize actions. Through our joint commitment, we show that logistics not only moves goods but also transports hope and life.
What support do you receive from official sources?
We are very pleased that Dr. Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport, has taken on the patronage of our initiative. In his greeting, he emphasizes the importance of the logistics industry and praises our commitment in the fight against serious illnesses.
How can individuals support your initiative?
Individuals can support us by following our social media channels and sharing our posts to raise awareness of the initiative. They can also establish contact with logistics companies in their region, helping us expand our network.
