6. February 2025In the new funding year 2025, the Foundation Shipping Location Germany is increasing its financial support for vocational training with higher funding amounts. This continues to offer an attractive opportunity for companies engaged in the training and education of nautical and technical maritime personnel, even after more than ten years of successful funding activities.
(Hamburg) This ensures that the Foundation remains a reliable partner for German shipping companies in their training efforts to secure maritime know-how. It is also very encouraging that in December 2024, an increase in applications for financial support for vocational training from the Foundation was recorded again. Companies involved in training and further education still have the option to submit applications digitally via the Foundation’s service portal. The Foundation also ensures continuity for German shipping companies through constant compensation amounts that are to be paid in the context of flagging out.
The funding amounts for financial support for vocational training will be increased by 20% by the Foundation Shipping Location Germany starting January 1, 2025. For the training of junior officers, companies can receive €9,600 per quarter, and for the training of ship mechanics, nautical, technical, and electrotechnical officer assistants, €4,200 per quarter in financial support. In this way, the Foundation continues to contribute significantly to the successful securing of future talent for training companies and sends a strong signal against the backdrop of inflation-related increases in training costs in recent years.
Applications for financial support for vocational training in 2025 can be submitted quarterly to the Foundation starting now (please observe application deadlines). The new application form and conditions are already available on the Foundation’s website. Applications can also be submitted digitally via the Foundation’s service portal (prior registration is required for this).
Applications for 2025 can be submitted to the Foundation starting early March 2025
In addition to training, regular further education also serves to maintain and expand the necessary maritime know-how. Therefore, the Foundation will again financially support the completion of further education measures (courses) upon request in 2025. This underscores the importance of continuous (further) qualification in the nautical-technical field. Since 2022, the Foundation has also been financially supporting courses of inter-company training as part of vocational training for ship mechanics or technical officer assistants, provided the conditions are met.
Applications for financial support for further education measures in 2025 can likely be submitted to the Foundation starting early March 2025. The forms and conditions will be published on the Foundation’s website in early March 2025. Applications for financial support for further education measures from the previous year 2024 can still be submitted to the Foundation until February 28, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
Compensation amounts for 2025 unchanged
The Foundation has again set the compensation amounts for the year 2025 on December 11, 2024, unchanged in comparison to the previous year. The compensation amounts for flagging out according to § 7 Abs. 3 FlRG, which have been valid since January 1, 2025, were published at the end of December 2024 in the Federal Gazette (BAnz AT 31.12.2024 B11).
Application forms for the payment of a compensation amount are available on the Foundation’s website at:
