ELVIS warns of limited cargo space and high prices
27. February 2025Gruber Logistics has fully completed the integration of Züst & Bachmeier Project GmbH into its corporate group at the beginning of 2025. Since the beginning of this year, the project cargo specialist has been operating as Gruber Logistics Project GmbH. This was the final step of the integration. With the acquisition of Universal Transport in autumn 2022, Züst & Bachmeier also became part of the Gruber Logistics group.
(Auer/Nuremberg) Since 1911, the company specializing in project cargo has been conducting complex transports for its customers worldwide, combining different modes of transport for efficient handling. The now finalized process of brand synchronization marks the completion of the integration project that began in 2022. Martin Gruber, CEO of Gruber Logistics, sums up the added value of the acquisitions of Universal Transport and thus also Züst & Bachmeier for his company: “The global expertise and know-how of Züst & Bachmeier Project expand our perspectives and open up new growth opportunities in a specialized segment of logistics.”
Customers of Gruber Logistics in the Project Cargo Solutions area – under this new name, Züst & Bachmeier will be marketed externally – continue to benefit from the proven structures: locations, contact persons, and processes remain unchanged. The Nuremberg branch is led by Andreas Wöhler, while Marcel Zare heads the Düsseldorf branch.
A central component of Gruber Logistics remains the multimodal transport approach. “We work with all modes of transport and offer a wide range of solutions. A good example of this is the terminal we operate in the Nuremberg inland port, which allows us to handle project cargo via inland waterways,” says Andreas Wöhler, head of the Nuremberg branch. Since November 2024, the transport of 13 transformers, each weighing 197 tons, has been taking place from Franconia via water to Krefeld, with completion scheduled for March 2025. The final leg to the destination in Meerbusch will again be by truck. Gruber Logistics uses its own equipment for the last mile and unloading.
Direct Access to the Entire Service Portfolio
Through the complete integration of Züst & Bachmeier Project, customers gain direct access to the entire service portfolio of Gruber Logistics. This includes heavy and oversized transports with its own equipment, as well as full and partial loads, groupage traffic, air and sea freight products, project logistics, industrial assembly, and the so-called in-house engineering.
“Through our project cargo services, our customers benefit from optimized transport solutions along global logistics chains. Utilizing the resources of Gruber Logistics for the transport of oversized and heavy goods expands our operational capacities,” emphasizes Marcel Zare, head of the Düsseldorf branch.
