Schmitz Cargobull hands over 6 trailers to PepsiCo Germany
Mar 21, 2025 at 6:53 PMEffective retroactively from January 1, 2025, Emons strategically acquires a stake in the Baden-based LDB Group, which consists of the two operational units LDB Logistik GmbH and LDB Transport GmbH. The successful medium-sized company employs around 100 staff members. Main shareholder and managing director Torsten Fellmoser (57) continues to steer the fortunes of the LDB Group.
(Köln/Bühl-Vimbuch) The logistics service provider operates locations in Bühl and Rastatt. The field of activity is divided into five business areas: warehousing/logistics and services, hazardous goods logistics, contract packaging, shop logistics, and transport logistics. LDB Transport GmbH operates 30 of its own vehicles (megatrailers, articulated trucks, and jumbo vehicles), including an eActros 300.
In particular, the LDB Group has made a name for itself in the field of hazardous material storage. The capacities of the hazardous material warehouse of LDB Logistik GmbH at its headquarters in Bühl have just been increased to 8,100 storage spaces through an expansion measure. At the same time, the entire hall has been equipped with the latest sprinkler technology, fire protection technology, and fire water retention technology. 14 different hazardous materials are now allowed to be stored in four storage sections. Additionally, there is another hall with 1,600 storage spaces for non-hazardous goods and a large workspace for assembly work, as well as 5,700 picking compartments for shop logistics. Two more halls for block storage complete the portfolio in Bühl. In Rastatt, LDB has 13,000 pallet spaces.
Both family businesses focus on quality and a close, trusting customer relationship, as well as sustainable action for the future.
“LDB is the ideal complement to the Emons portfolio. The warehouse logistics in the hazardous materials sector is excellent for meeting the demands of our existing customers. The vehicles from LDB fit perfectly into our strategy of fleet expansion. Also, LDB’s motto ‘If it can’t be done, it doesn’t exist’ aligns perfectly with Emons’ philosophy,” explains Ralf Wieland, CEO of Emons.
“Emons is strategically investing in the LDB Group. With our many years of expertise in hazardous material storage, we complement Emons’ service area and simultaneously benefit from the global network,” confirms LDB managing director Torsten Fellmoser. “It was also personally important to me that my professional life’s work continues successfully. This works better in conjunction with Emons,” says Fellmoser. “Moreover, it just clicked between Mr. Wieland and me from the very beginning.”
Harmonious and Successful Collaboration
The credo of both contracting parties: Together we are stronger! Emons and the LDB Group look forward to jointly marketing the additional capacities in the expanded hazardous material warehouse, which will officially open in April, and fully exploiting the synergies of the partnership.
