21. March 2025DKV Mobility, a platform for international mobility services, introduces the DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor, which allows companies to reliably analyze and document the emissions of their fleet. This makes emissions accounting for the fleet a breeze, as mandated by the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
(Ratingen) The EU directive increasingly requires companies to report on the impacts of their business activities on people and the environment. This includes the detailed disclosure of the CO2e1 footprint. This is particularly relevant for freight forwarders and companies with fleets that must collect reliable data on their fleet emissions annually in accordance with the CSRD requirements.
The DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor includes, among other things, an annual CO2e report with a detailed fleet emissions balance and a methodology report that describes the data basis and calculation logic. Companies can use this report to fulfill their reporting obligations to their auditing firm. For all transactions processed through the DKV Mobility platform, the CO2e emissions generated are reported—regardless of which fuel or electricity product is used. Emissions for each refueling or charging process are automatically calculated by country. This is especially relevant for companies operating cross-border. The DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor captures emissions along the entire fuel lifecycle in accordance with CSRD requirements—from energy extraction to vehicle operation (Well-to-Wheel).
Requirements for Sustainability Reporting Increase
“Whether large corporation, medium-sized enterprise, or small craft business: the requirements for sustainability reporting are increasing and pose significant challenges for many companies because they lack the necessary resources to reliably report their fleet emissions,” says Markus Präßl, Managing Director for Sales & Customer Success at DKV Mobility. “Companies that have reliable data on their fleet emissions will have a decisive competitive advantage in the market in the coming years. With the DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor, we provide our customers with a practical tool to report their fleet emissions and take a pioneering role in this area.”
In addition to the annual CO2e report, the DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor offers fleet and sustainability managers the opportunity to access and export detailed information about the CO2e emissions generated for each individual refueling or charging process. The DKV Mobility Carbon Monitor is part of the premium package of DKV Analytics, which is available in the digital customer portal of DKV Mobility. Even though smaller companies are currently not affected by the new reporting obligations, it may happen that business partners request information about emissions, e.g., when purchasing goods or services. This is because companies that fall under the CSRD must report on their CO2e emissions in the value chain according to strictly defined EU standards (ESRS), which also includes purchased logistics services.
Increasing Accountability for Sustainability Aspects
The EU’s CSRD came into force on January 5, 2023, replacing the previous Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) and significantly expanding its requirements. The aim of the CSRD is to increase the accountability of European companies regarding sustainability aspects and to introduce binding reporting standards at the EU level. With this step, sustainability reporting and financial reporting are coming closer together.
