Fraport Hosts Cargo Roadshow in India
8. April 2025
On April 10, Germany will once again celebrate “Logistics Day”
8. April 2025Since the end of March 2025, the new nox depot in Krefeld has been operational. With a hall area of 7,200 square meters, two spacious hall entrances, and 12 truck ramps, the new location offers optimal conditions for efficient processes and quick handling. State-of-the-art technology and the consistent implementation of Lean Management principles support this claim.
(Langenfeld/Krefeld) Various measures have been implemented, such as an optimized hall layout with clear pathways and markings that enable a continuous workflow. Smart AI tools were used in the development and establishment of processes and traffic regulations to achieve optimal results.
The result is short distances, optimal orientation in the hall, and strict adherence to occupational safety regulations: markings and divisions have been set up to create clear walking paths that minimize collisions and tripping hazards. Additionally, care has been taken to ensure that all hazard areas are secured by clearly visible and strategically placed markings.
LED lighting throughout the building and a photovoltaic system on the roof contribute to energy savings and help achieve the company’s sustainability goals. Information about tours and ramp occupancy is shared via numerous monitors in the hall, reducing unnecessary paper printouts and allowing for flexible responses to short-term changes.
The new depot also includes an Experience Center, which is used by nox for internal training and events. The approximately 400 square meter stage offers a direct view of the hall and its processes, allowing the night express operations to be observed up close during in-house events without disturbing the processes.
“Lean Management helps us increase efficiency and align our processes even more closely with customer needs,” says Alexander Kohnen, CEO of the nox Group. “With the new depot in Krefeld, we have deliberately created a blueprint for our other locations, to which we will also transfer the principles of Lean Management.”
Anna Wolf, Senior Manager Continuous Improvement Operations at nox Germany, responsible for implementing Lean Management principles, adds: “The entire project team has significantly contributed to establishing a benchmark location in Krefeld that serves as a model for future process optimizations and best practices. By implementing Lean Management in this depot, we have now anchored the principles of waste reduction and the introduction of standards in our operational structure, enabling sustainable efficiency gains and resource conservation. This location will serve as a basis for the further development and scaling of Lean initiatives in our other depots.”
Duisburg location will be closed
With the opening of the depot in Krefeld, the location in Duisburg will be closed. This site had been rented as a temporary solution with a hall area of 1,450 square meters for about two and a half years to allow sufficient time for the realization of the Krefeld location.
