Apr 24, 2025 at 5:46 PMThe retreading of worn-out truck tires represents an economical and environmentally friendly alternative for fleet operators compared to purchasing new tires. BestDrive by Continental offers innovative and professional retreading solutions at its own new rubber facility in Aarau, which simultaneously meet all performance and safety requirements.
(Aarau) “Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in the transport industry,” says Simon Müller, Head of Productions, Solutions & Quality Management at BestDrive by Continental. “Therefore, more and more of our fleet customers are choosing to give their tires a new lease on life. With the ContiLifeCycle™ concept, we offer them tire management that focuses on cost savings and environmentally friendly actions.” Retreading not only saves 35% on tire costs but also avoids over 60% of CO₂ emissions compared to the production of a new tire. The use of up to 85% recycled and renewable materials in the production process further enhances the positive environmental balance.
Retreading of over 20,000 Tires
At the new rubber facility in Aarau, over 20,000 tires are retreaded each year. Various tread patterns exclusively manufactured under the ContiTread brand are used. Modern processes and technologies ensure that customers’ tires meet high standards of performance and safety even in their new life. The quality of the tires retreaded in Aarau is checked annually in an external laboratory to ensure they meet the required standards of ECE Regulation 109.
True Multitalents
Retreaded tires are suitable for a variety of applications and can be used in different weather conditions and on various road surfaces. This makes them a flexible option for a wide range of commercial vehicles. Custom designs that are not available in the new tire sector can also be produced. Some tread patterns are even exclusively available as retreaded versions. Additionally, ContiTread offers a wide range of Continental original profiles that come from the new tire sector.
Long Tire Life
“We see ourselves as a professional partner when it comes to accompanying the complete life cycle of truck tires,” says Simon Müller. “Most Swiss customers bring their own tires for retreading, and through our certified processes, we guarantee that they will receive their own casing back.” Considering that a casing can be retreaded up to three times depending on its size and application, this results in a significant lifespan per tire, which benefits not only the wallet but also the environment.
