27. April 2025The Schoeller Group, specialized in reusable systems, and the logistics service provider Fiege have jointly founded the joint venture Multiloop. Multiloop develops reusable shipping packaging for e-commerce and offers online retailers the opportunity to cost-effectively and sustainably reduce their ecological footprint.
(Pullach i. Isartal/Greven) Joint effort: The Schoeller Group and Fiege, together with Leif Erichson, former President Europe of the fashion brand Esprit, and serial entrepreneur Elias Kuby, have established the joint venture Multiloop. Unlike conventional boxes that dominate e-commerce, Multiloop focuses on durable and reusable shipping packaging made from recyclable, water-repellent polypropylene. A Multiloop reusable box replaces an average of 30 single-use boxes and saves up to 86 percent CO2. At the end of their life cycles, the packaging is recycled and used to manufacture new Multiloop boxes.
Re-Use Before Recycling
“Our motto is Re-Use before Recycling – simple, affordable, and suitable for mass use,” says Leif Erichson, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Multiloop. “The end customer only pays a deposit, which is of course refunded 100 percent upon return of the packaging. Our strategic differentiation from the competition is our unique and convenient retrieval system with 15,000 planned return points in supermarkets, gas stations, and kiosks. Our packaging is logistics-optimized, and for online retailers, there is virtually no implementation effort. Additionally, with Multiloop, we are adopting an attractive pay-per-use model that every online retailer can afford.”
Elias Kuby, also Co-Founder and Managing Director at Multiloop, adds: “Multiloop combines the best of both worlds: With the Schoeller Group, we have a partner that has been developing and producing innovative reusable systems for over 60 years. The logistics service provider Fiege brings extensive know-how in e-commerce, logistics, and last-mile delivery to the partnership. We aim to leverage these strategic partnerships to establish Multiloop as the European market leader in reusable shipping packaging in the long term.”
Awareness of Sustainability is Growing
Jens Fiege, who leads the more than 150-year-old family business together with his cousin Felix Fiege as Co-CEO in the fifth generation, explains: “Awareness of sustainability in our society is growing. Specifically in e-commerce, more and more end customers are demanding alternative packaging and shipping options. With Multiloop, we have developed a solution that truly makes e-commerce more sustainable and resource-efficient – and is accessible to everyone.” And Martin Schoeller, Co-Chairman of the Schoeller Group, says: “To ensure the successful growth of Multiloop and to provide the best possible customer experience, we will continue to expand our comprehensive, Europe-wide return network together with our partners. More sustainability is best achieved together. We look forward to writing a sustainable success story with Multiloop.”
