Webfleet Makes Fleets Even Safer with Video 2.0
Apr 27, 2025 at 11:58 AMLufthansa Cargo traditionally named its latest addition to its freighter fleet last week, reaffirming its motto “Enabling Global Business” once again. The newest aircraft has been named “¡Hola Argentina!” to honor Argentina’s role within the cargo airline.
(Frankfurt) The aircraft with the registration D-ALFL has been given a name within the logic of “Say hello around the world,” with which the leading cargo airline has been naming its planes since 2013, thereby honoring the markets within its route network. The greeting “¡Hola Argentina!” highlights Argentina’s connection to the global air freight market through Lufthansa Cargo. The freight carrier has been operating between the second-largest country in South America and its hub in Frankfurt since 1970.
With strong export sectors such as agricultural products, energy, and raw materials, Argentina remains a significant pillar in the South American trade network despite the dynamic global economic situation. Together with markets like Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay, which are globally recognized for their exports of raw materials and agricultural products, the region forms an increasingly relevant hub for intercontinental trade flows.
At the same time, the demand for high-quality import goods such as machinery, electronics, and vehicles is growing throughout the region – a need that Lufthansa Cargo, as a specialized air freight expert, meets with reliable connections for these sensitive goods from Europe. The Lufthansa Group’s cargo airline is therefore strategically strengthening its presence in South America and focusing on long-term partnerships in a market with significant strategic potential.
In this year’s summer flight schedule, the cargo airline is even serving the destinations Buenos Aires and Curitiba once more per week than in the previous winter flight schedule.
Weekly Freighter Frequencies to South America
Freight customers have access to weekly freighter frequencies of 4/7 to South America. The entire South American freighter network includes the destinations Viracopos (VCP), Montevideo (MVD), Buenos Aires (EZE), and Curitiba (CWB). Additionally, Lufthansa Cargo offers its customers up to 20 weekly rotations from Frankfurt and three rotations per week from Munich to South America with the bellyhold capacities within the Lufthansa Group.
“South America is and remains an important growth market for Lufthansa Cargo. Especially in the perishables sector, we have built strong partnerships with our customers over the last three decades. With the naming of our newest freighter, we emphasize our commitment to Argentina and reaffirm our motto ‘Enabling Global Business’ in this market and for our customers,” said Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo, during the ceremony at Buenos Aires Airport.
Pure B777F Long-Haul Fleet Since 2021
Lufthansa Cargo has operated a pure B777F long-haul fleet since 2021. This currently consists of twelve own freighters and six aircraft operated by AeroLogic, a joint venture between Lufthansa Cargo and DHL. Additionally, Lufthansa Cargo operates a fleet of four A321F for short and medium-haul transport options within Europe and the Middle East. With the bellyhold capacities of Lufthansa Airlines, Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, and SunExpress, freight customers have access to a particularly dense network that connects all major economic centers in Europe with direct links.
