27. April 2025SWAN GmbH has appointed Matthias Martens as an additional managing director effective April 1, 2025. With the experienced manager and SAP digitalization expert, the company gains a central leadership figure alongside the current sole CEO Alexander Bernhard for the strategic expansion of the SAP Digital Supply Chain (DSC) sector. At the same time, SWAN emphasizes its commitment to supporting customers comprehensively along the digital supply chain – from warehouse logistics to transportation and manufacturing.
(Augsburg) Matthias Martens brings over 25 years of experience in the digitalization of supply chain processes across various industries. Most recently, he was responsible as Senior Director Supply Chain & Procurement at All for One Group SE for the SAP DSC portfolio and led a team of 75 employees. His expertise in SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Supply Chain strengthens SWAN’s position in the rapidly growing SAP cloud environment. In addition to his operational responsibilities, Matthias Martens has been engaged as a lecturer in Supply Chain Management at the Technical University Georg Agricola in Bochum since 2019.
Clear Tandem in Leadership
With the expansion of the management board, SWAN is strategically pushing for further growth and expansion of its business areas in SAP logistics digitalization: Matthias Martens will focus on expanding the consulting business beyond the classic intralogistics module SAP EWM towards Supply Chain Management. His focus will increasingly be on the further development of SAP Transportation Management (TM), SAP Digital Manufacturing (DM), and SAP solutions for semi-automated and manual warehouse processes, including integration into SAP S/4HANA and SAP Cloud solutions. Alexander Bernhard will continue to serve as managing director of SWAN and will be responsible for the current core competency areas around SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM), customer service, and solutions for complex, automated logistics systems.
Shaping the Future with SAP Cloud and Innovative Technologies
The SAP strategy of recent years – particularly the focus on cloud solutions – is changing the requirements for technology, architecture, and consulting expertise. SWAN aims to actively shape the technological transformation and set new standards in SAP logistics consulting.
“To further expand our role as an SAP logistics and digitalization expert, we need speed and expertise – Matthias Martens brings both. With our expanded consulting portfolio, we will also offer solutions for lean or semi-automated logistics in the SAP S/4HANA environment in the future,” explains Alexander Bernhard. The expansion of the SAP DSC area also creates new perspectives for SWAN employees. Future topics such as artificial intelligence (AI), SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and modern S/4HANA modules are coming into sharper focus.
SWAN Focuses on Sustainable Growth
“Our ambition is clear: We want to become one of the leading SAP partners for S/4HANA logistics in the next 5 years and actively shape the digital transformation of our customers. SWAN already has the best prerequisites for this,” says Matthias Martens.
With the expanded solution portfolio, SWAN is addressing new customer segments and offering a more profound ERP integration for SAP EWM projects. Together with its high digitalization and automation expertise, this is a perfect mix for sustainable growth.
