May 23, 2025 at 6:32 PMBVL Austria celebrates with over 1,000 participants, 120 partners, and prominent guests at the top event of the logistics industry in Austria. With a new record number of participants, a high-profile program lineup, and a clear focus on the geopolitical and technological challenges facing the industry, the 40th Logistics Dialogue of the Federal Association of Logistics Austria (BVLÖ) kicks off today at Vienna International Airport.
(Wien) Under the motto “Unlock to Perform!” over 1,000 industry visitors and 120 competence partners from industry, trade, politics, and science come together on May 22 and 23 to jointly develop perspectives for a resilient and high-performing logistics in a global context.
Geopolitics, Digitalization, and Responsibility: Europe in Focus
In his opening speech, Dr. Roman Stiftner, President of BVL Austria, urges Europe to become an active player on the global stage again. “Europe can no longer be a spectator; it must develop its own strategies – through independent infrastructure, secured raw material supply, and technology offensives.” Stiftner refers to a “chess game of world powers,” where Europe can no longer just debate and regulate.
While the USA relies on military and maritime strength, and China on resource control and logistical dominance, Europe is increasingly losing momentum – too often caught up in debates and discussions about sustainability, CO₂ limits, and regulations, rather than focusing on globally oriented strategies. To ensure that Austria and Europe become competitive in the global market again, Stiftner calls for the rapid implementation of effective measures and a departure from symbolic politics.
A Look Back at 40 Years of Logistics History
The anniversary congress also provides an opportunity for reflection: From the introduction of the barcode to autonomous storage systems – BVL Austria has evolved from an expert network since its founding in 1992 into the leading platform for logistics and supply chain management in Austria. The pioneering role of BVL Austria in the field of sustainability is particularly emphasized: The association awards the Sustainability Prize in Logistics annually.
Innovation Meets Network: Experience Included
The accompanying trade exhibition “Everything Logistics” showcases technological trends, sustainable solutions, and digitalization potentials. In the evening, the legendary Network Night awaits with an experiential format featuring show acts, culinary highlights, and a musical homage to Udo Jürgens.
BVL Austria also sets a special societal sign: At the charity auction “Logistics is Life!” high-quality prizes are auctioned off – the proceeds go to seriously ill children. Among the prize donors are cargo-partner, Österreichische Post, and artist Martin Maier.
A Network that Connects
“As we celebrate the 40th Logistics Dialogue today, we look back on an impressive history that extends far beyond four decades. BVL Austria is proud of the people who have shaped it – from the founding fathers to today’s leaders. Today, BVL Austria is a network that continues to grow,” says Stiftner. “The Logistics Dialogue is not just a professional conference – it is a place of exchange, innovation, and social engagement,” Stiftner adds. BVLÖ currently has around 950 members and sees itself as a bridge between business, science, and the public sector – with a strong European focus through its active role in the European Shippers’ Council (ESC).
