Fraunhofer IML and Wecon Launch Project ‘FlexRailUnit’
28. May 2025Cargoboard and the traditional Austrian freight forwarder G. Englmayer are joining forces: G. Englmayer will join Cargoboard Austria starting June 1, 2025. The goal of the agreement is to strategically expand the joint market position in Austria and further enhance service quality.
(Paderborn/Wels) Englmayer not only brings decades of experience but also a nationwide transport network and a strong presence in the Eastern European market, creating ideal conditions to combine digital innovation and operational excellence through this strategic partnership. Starting next month, the entire Austrian business of the digital freight forwarder will be handled by the new company. The management of Cargoboard Austria will be taken over by Lukas Petrasch, CEO of Cargoboard, Daniel Grobbel, authorized signatory at Cargoboard Austria, and Josef Schöllhuber, authorized signatory at G. Englmayer.
Austria ranks second in terms of revenue among Cargoboard’s markets, following the Federal Republic. G. Englmayer’s involvement in the digital freight forwarding platform demonstrates the impact that innovative business models can have on established, traditional companies for business expansion. The partners outline the anticipated synergy effects as follows: G. Englmayer positions itself securely for the future in the digital environment, while Cargoboard ensures operational quality combined with regional strength.
Strategic Alliance for the Austrian Market
“We deliberately founded Cargoboard Austria early on to create a solid foundation for a strong partnership. With G. Englmayer, we have exactly the right partner by our side to sustainably expand our market position,” says Lukas Petrasch.
Josef Schöllhuber also sees great potential: “Cargoboard brings its digital platform, which will sustainably change the freight forwarding market. We provide local market knowledge and operational excellence. This creates a win-win situation.”
Since its founding in Germany, Cargoboard has successfully demonstrated how digitization works in logistics: an intuitive platform, streamlined processes, and strong partners like the Cargoline network. This viable concept will now be appropriately adapted for Austria.
Transport Offer Significantly Improved
Handling through an Austrian company simplifies processes, ensures shorter routes, and brings legal clarity. At the same time, the transport offer for the Alpine country – whether in imports or exports – will be significantly improved. Through the close integration of the digital platform and local logistics expertise, customers benefit from faster transit times and smoother processes in goods transport.
