The transport logistic 2025 kicks off today in Munich
2. June 2025The hey circle XXL box from hey circle meets all the requirements for regular parcel shipping: It is conveyor belt compatible, can be securely sealed with a seal or adhesive, and has no protruding parts. This makes it easily integrable into existing shipping processes like the XL variant (60 × 40 × 20 cm) – without additional handling fees from parcel service providers.
(Munich) In 2024, the German paper and pulp industry produced 19.2 million tons – an increase of 3%. The largest share of the growth? Packaging. A whole +5% more packaging paper was produced compared to the previous year. Although recycled paper is now standard, resource consumption remains high: Every new box requires energy, water, and fresh fibers. And: The production of single-use boxes generates more CO₂ emissions than their transport. Especially for bulky or heavy products, the environmental impact – and the packaging costs – are high.
Foldable XXL reusable packaging
Against this backdrop, hey circle is now launching the first foldable reusable shipping box in XXL format (60 × 40 × 40 cm) that can be regularly shipped via parcel service – without bulky goods surcharge, without special handling, but with numerous ecological and economic advantages. The box was specifically designed for use in large-volume shipments, B2B logistics, and branch delivery. It is stackable, foldable to a height of 5 cm, weighs only 2 kg, and is designed for up to 50 cycles.
Less CO₂, less waste, less cost
According to Ökopol, using reusable shipping boxes can save up to 76% CO₂ emissions and 94% waste compared to single-use boxes. The new XXL box from hey circle also offers an exceptionally good CO₂ balance: Over its lifecycle, 1,750 g CO₂eq are saved for every invested euro. For comparison: A photovoltaic system varies between 600–1,100 g CO₂eq/€ depending on the system.
This shows: Reusable shipping is not only logistically and economically sensible, but also one of the most efficient climate protection measures that companies can implement immediately – a true low hanging fruit. Economically, the switch is also worthwhile: With a unit price of about 40 euros, packaging costs amount to only 0.80 euros per cycle – compared to around 1.20 euros for a sturdy single-use box. This allows for an average savings of up to 53% on packaging costs.
Shipping packaging has a large share
According to the Federal Environment Agency, shipping packaging accounts for 5 to over 30% of the environmental impact in online retail, depending on the application. Of the 863 kt of shipping packaging materials that were generated in Germany in 2018, 96% were paper, cardboard, and carton – single-use, mind you. “We want to end the dependence on single-use packaging – economically, ecologically, and scalable,” says Doris Diebold, CEO of hey circle. The XXL box is the next step on the path to waste-free logistics.
