Dematic Creates New Distribution Center for ERAM in France
17. June 2025Körber makes a particularly time-consuming, strenuous, and unpopular task in package logistics easier with a new semi-automatic solution for unloading loose-loaded trailers. Unloading times are halved, throughput more than doubled, and ergonomics improved.
(Konstanz) The Körber ErgoUnload significantly improves the ergonomics and efficiency of the previously entirely manual unloading process. While unloading currently typically requires high effort and two employees, the Körber ErgoUnload enables high throughputs of up to 3,000 packages per hour/dock with just one operator – more than double compared to the conventional method. At the same time, the physically demanding lifting and twisting movements are reduced, and the lifting force for employees is decreased to around 10 percent.
The Körber ErgoUnload is a compact, semi-automatic unloading aid with variable load handling in the form of easy-to-use flaps at different heights and integrated conveyor technology. The system is compatible with all common telescopic belts. It is positioned in the trailer in front of the telescopic without further installation efforts and is immediately ready for use.
Less Lifting or Twisting
Individual packages or several freight items can then be pulled into the system at high speed by just one employee, almost without twisting movements or lifting. Hard-to-reach packages can be fed in using optional gripping aids. This significantly accelerates the unloading process and minimizes the physical strain on employees.
Addresses Personnel, Time, and Cost Pressure
Due to the high speed of the unloading process and minimal setup times of the system, the use of the Körber ErgoUnload reduces unloading cycles at the dock by up to 50 percent. New installations can be planned with fewer docks, and existing ramps can be utilized more efficiently. At the same time, the attractiveness and ergonomics of the unloading activity improve – with lower personnel requirements.
“The Körber ErgoUnload not only improves ergonomics and performance – it is also a good example of how innovative automation solutions can address central challenges such as personnel, time, and cost pressure,” says Oliver Kaufmann, Product Manager at Körber.
