Kraftverkehr Emsland Becomes New Partner of Online Systemlogistik
24. June 2025
HHLA Chairwoman Angela Titzrath to Depart by Year-End
24. June 2025The Geis Group continues its growth strategy consistently: With the acquisition of agotrans Logistik GmbH in Rodgau near Frankfurt, the company is making its third acquisition within seven months. As of July 1, 2025, Geis will take over all shares of the established logistics company.
(Bad Neustadt/Rodgau) This strengthens Geis’s activities in the economically strong Rhine-Main region. At the same time, the company is expanding its role in the IDS network, where it will also take over the Aschaffenburg depot area in the future. Following the successful acquisitions of the Gras Group and the Krüger locations in Göttingen, Geis is further strengthening its position within the largest German piece goods cooperation, IDS. “The Frankfurt region has been strategically very interesting for us for a long time, as it perfectly complements our road network,” explain Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis, managing partners of the Geis Group. “With agotrans, we have now found the right company to strategically expand our presence in this region.”
agotrans as an Optimal Complement
agotrans Logistik GmbH has been established as a family-owned business in the east of Frankfurt since 1972. In 2014, the company moved to Rodgau. Around 120 employees handle national and European piece goods transport, partial and full loads, contract logistics, and specialized automotive solutions. The company is currently active in the Online System Logistics cooperation, and discussions for further collaboration have already begun. “The range of services and regional strength of agotrans fit perfectly with our portfolio,” say Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis. “And even more importantly: The chemistry is right. With agotrans and owner Dr. Thomas Wernig, we share the same entrepreneurial spirit and values such as reliability, customer orientation, responsibility, and sustainable growth.”
New Perspectives for Customers and Employees.
Dr. Thomas Wernig, who has led the company since 2018, sees the acquisition as a significant step: “With Geis, we have found a strong partner who, like us, thinks and acts long-term. Our employees and customers will benefit from new perspectives in an internationally positioned corporate group with over 10,000 employees in 14 countries, as well as a large and stable IDS network in Germany.” Dr. Wernig will remain with the company until mid-2026 and will actively shape the transition together with the Geis management – ensuring stability and reliability for employees and customers. All jobs will be retained, and the familiar contacts will continue to be available.
Growth in the Rhine-Main Region and in the IDS Network
Geis has been active in the Frankfurt metropolitan area since the 1980s. Over 300 employees are currently employed in the region at several contract logistics locations and in the area of Air & Sea Services. With the integration of agotrans, Geis is expanding its offerings in the area of road products and further strengthening its market position in the Rhine-Main region. A central background for the acquisition is the reorganization in the IDS network: Following the announced withdrawal of DSV, Geis will take over the IDS depot area of Aschaffenburg in the future. At the same time, the integration of the Krüger locations in Göttingen replaces the former DSV depot in Baunatal. With 13 out of 54 depot areas, Geis will be one of the largest partners within the piece goods cooperation IDS.
Strong Commitment to the Region
“With this acquisition, we are specifically investing in the network coverage of Geis and the IDS,” emphasize Hans-Wolfgang Geis and Jochen Geis. “At the same time, we take responsibility for the region: We are taking over 120 qualified jobs and significantly developing the Rodgau location in the long term.” The transaction is subject to antitrust approval.
