Acito Takes Over Logistics and Transport International GmbH
24. July 2025The collaboration with Green Energy Resources marks a targeted entry for Liebherr into one of the most demanding bulk terminals in India. The project demonstrates how Liebherr can deliver powerful cranes fully assembled and tailored to complex berth conditions.
(Rostock/Visakhapatnam) Optimal load capacity for logistics growth on the east coast of India. The LHM 550 cranes selected for this project are specifically designed for intensive bulk operations and combine a four-rope grab system with a safe lifting capacity of 124 tons to ensure optimal material flow and reduced cycle times. Their electric drive systems provide energy efficiency, while the integrated overpressure systems protect critical components from abrasive dust and moisture. This is a crucial feature for the coastal port environment in India.
The cranes are delivered fully assembled and are ready for operation within a few days of arrival, eliminating the need for on-site assembly and minimally disrupting operations at the berth. This configuration not only enhances productivity but also aligns with Green Energy Resources’ commitment to sustainable and future-proof infrastructure. As part of Liebherr’s global supplier network, the cranes benefit from proven technology used in ports across five continents, bringing international best practices to the growing cargo handling hub of Vizag.
Maximizing Berth Potential with Two Cranes
Green Energy Resources has been operating in the Vizag port for over 13 years, managing a diverse portfolio of bulk goods for leading industrial clients. The company-owned berth EQ1A is a key component of the service offering, allowing direct control over ship scheduling and cargo handling. “We are excited to partner with Liebherr on this significant investment,” said Siddharth Saxena from Green Energy Resources. “With the new cranes, we can improve our turnaround times and meet the increasing demands of our customers with greater efficiency and reliability.”
For Green Energy Resources, the investment also opens up new opportunities in berth planning and cargo diversification. With two high-performance cranes operating in parallel, the company can now handle multiple ship types and cargo profiles more flexibly, reduce idle times, and increase berth utilization. The modular control systems and intuitive interfaces of the cranes simplify employee training and maintenance planning—important factors for maintaining uptime in high-turnover environments. This added versatility helps the company respond to changing market demands and seasonal cargo flows without compromising service levels.
The electric drive not only reduces dependence on fuels but also supports compliance with new environmental regulations, which is becoming an increasingly important factor for ports operating under ever-stricter emission standards.
Tailored Crane Configuration for Handling Large Cargo Volumes
Beyond their technical specifications, the LHM 550 cranes are designed for continuous operation with high volumes and minimal downtime—a critical requirement for the demanding schedule of Berth EQ1A. While optimized for bulk operations, their modular design allows for quick adaptation to other types of cargo, providing staff with greater flexibility in managing ship queues. Liebherr’s regional service infrastructure in South Asia, combined with remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance tools, offers Green Energy Resources a robust support framework. This ensures that technical issues are resolved quickly and operations are not interrupted.
“Our cranes are designed not only for performance but also for resilience in demanding port operations,” says Andreas Ritschel, General Manager Sales Mobile Harbour Cranes at Liebherr-Rostock GmbH. “We work closely with our customers to ensure that every delivery aligns with their operational goals and long-term strategy.”
