29. July 2025The signs at Cargoboard indicate growth on the Iberian Peninsula: In October 2024, the digital freight forwarder launched with 350 shipments in Spain and Portugal. By June 2025, this number had already risen to 876 – an increase of around 150 percent in just eight months. Including the transports from the already ongoing July, the company has handled over 7,500 orders in both markets so far. The next goal is clearly defined: By autumn, the target of 10,000 transports should be achieved.
(Paderborn) “We started in Spain and Portugal with the conviction that our digital booking model would be well received by shippers in these two countries. This assumption proved correct. Of course, there are always fluctuations, but the increase in shipments by two and a half times between October 2024 and June 2025 represents a significant success for us,” summarizes Lukas Petrasch, founder and CEO of Cargoboard, the latest interim report on this development. “In addition to smooth IT processes, one thing was crucial: We listened and closely supported our customers with their orders.”
Digital Business Model with a Personal Touch in Customer Service
However, for the market entry in Spain and Portugal, the company did not rely solely on the automation of all process steps in transport booking. Additionally, Cargoboard places a very high value on personal contacts during the initiation and execution of orders.
“Even without our own on-site office, we have engaged native speakers and logistics experts for customer service and dispatch. The close collaboration with local partners like CBL Logística further enhances the value of our service for clients,” emphasizes Lukas Petrasch. “We want to build long-term relationships with our customers, and to do this, we need to fully understand their requirements and needs.”
Other Countries in Sight
At the transport logistic trade fair this June, the Cargoboard founder announced a business growth target of 100 million euros in annual revenue by 2027. In addition to the crucial markets in Germany and Austria, where Cargoboard Austria was launched this spring, this also means an even stronger focus on internationalization. Spain and Portugal will not be the last countries on the European continent where Cargoboard aims to establish its services firmly. “In another country, we are already in a project stage that goes far beyond the status of a test phase,” announces Lukas Petrasch, already hinting at the next news from his company.
