Hapag-Lloyd and Shell Sign Agreement for Biomethane
14. September 2025Gebrüder Weiss acquires the majority shares in the Turkish logistics company Sienzi Lojistik, a leading provider of customs and warehousing logistics services in Istanbul. The company will continue to operate as an independent entity and will henceforth be known as Sienzi Lojistik – a Company of Gebrüder Weiss. The acquisition is set to take place in January 2026, pending approval from the competition authority. Murat Doğan will remain the managing director of Sienzi Lojistik and will continue to be involved in the company.
(Lauterach/Istanbul) “With our investment in Sienzi Lojistik, we are expanding our market presence in Turkey and permanently integrating our partner’s customs warehousing expertise into our network. This is a strategic step to optimally support customers with complex supply chain requirements and to offer all services from a single source,” explains Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Management Board at Gebrüder Weiss.
“The merger with Gebrüder Weiss, one of the most traditional logistics companies in the world, strengthens our competitiveness in the industry. Through this partnership, we can offer our customers a broader range of services while simultaneously enhancing our country’s role in global trade,” says Murat Doğan. The managing director is also the vice president of the Turkish Customs Warehouse Association.
Both logistics companies have been cooperating in Turkey for about ten years. Gebrüder Weiss takes advantage of Sienzi’s customs warehouse for various customers in the import/export processing and goods handling sectors. “We can store goods here until customs duties are paid or transit procedures are carried out, and consolidate shipments from different countries of origin. For companies with complex supply chains, the customs warehouse solution means more flexibility, lower costs, and better planning,” says Mişel Yakop, Country Manager Turkey at Gebrüder Weiss.
New business sectors in planning
In addition, Gebrüder Weiss is strengthening its Turkish branch in Istanbul as a full-service provider with the company acquisition and plans to explore new business sectors, such as textiles and industrial customers. “Istanbul offers ideal conditions for directing goods flows into various markets due to its geostrategic location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia. We see significant growth potential there,” says Thomas Moser, Director and Regional Manager Black Sea/CIS at Gebrüder Weiss.
