Schmitz Cargobull Successfully Completes EcoDuo Pilot Project
9. October 2025The Lower Austrian dairy NÖM AG has commissioned Kardex Mlog to build a fully automated shipping warehouse and comprehensive conveyor technology. The new building will provide up to 26,000 pallet spaces. As the general contractor, Kardex Mlog also coordinates the steel shelving construction, roof and wall cladding, as well as the delivery of two electric overhead conveyors. The groundbreaking took place on June 23, and the acceptance is planned for April 2027.
(Neuenstadt/Baden near Vienna) NÖM AG in Baden near Vienna offers a product range of around 1,000 items and supplies customers throughout Europe. The main sales areas are in eastern Austria and northern Italy. With the current loading volume of an average of 2,200 pallets per day, logistics has reached its performance limit. The construction of the new shipping warehouse is a response by NÖM to the dynamically growing order volume and the increased demands for speed and precision in the supply chain.
The project includes the construction of a logistics center at the Baden site with a fully automated shipping warehouse, including conveyor technology. An electric overhead conveyor is planned for the connection to the goods dispatch. The system will be controlled and organized via the material flow and warehouse management system SAP EWM. “The new construction will not result in additional sealing, as we are utilizing an existing area, and through the direct connection of the new warehouse, we save over 10,000 truck trips per year,” emphasizes Josef Simon, board member for production and technology at NÖM AG and lead on the new construction.
“For Kardex Mlog, the numerous references with comparable tasks from the dairy industry were particularly convincing. Additionally, we were impressed by the collaborative approach of Kardex Mlog and the suppliers, who have shown great interest in this project,” emphasizes Christoph Posawetz, logistics manager of NÖM AG.
NÖM AG is one of the leading companies in the Austrian dairy industry. With more than 125 years of experience in milk processing, NÖM produces a wide range of dairy products, including milk, yogurt, butter, quark, drinks, and much more. The company processes around 450 million kilograms of milk annually from over 2,200 farmers in the region and employs around 1,000 people in Austria, generating a revenue of 685 million EUR in 2024.
