China Business of Gebrüder Weiss Remains a Guarantee for Revenue Growth
Nov 25, 2025 at 8:14 PMWith the completion of the first office spaces in the new Lufthansa Cargo headquarters at Frankfurt Airport, the cargo airline has achieved a central milestone in the comprehensive modernization of the air freight hub at the Frankfurt location. The official construction acceptance will take place in mid-December by the responsible authority. After that, the first 60 office workstations in the revitalized building can be put into operation.
(Frankfurt) Three additional construction phases will follow successively until early 2028, with the second phase expected to be completed as early as autumn 2026. The new, modern office spaces covering an area of 10,000 square meters are part of a comprehensive modernization of the freight infrastructure of the Lufthansa Cargo Campus, including the construction of the new freight hub at Frankfurt Airport.
“The new headquarters is more than just a building – it is a place where our culture comes to life and a clear commitment to the future of our company and our location in Frankfurt,” explains Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo. “With our modern workspaces, we create room for collaboration, innovation, and growth – thus making a visible statement of our ambitions to shape the air freight of tomorrow. Furthermore, the modernization of our cargo center forms the basis for offering our customers reliable and high-quality transport solutions worldwide.”
With a total investment of 600 million euros, the program referred to as “LCCevo” is currently the largest infrastructure project of the Lufthansa Group. By 2030, the existing Lufthansa Cargo Center will be fundamentally modernized over a total area of 330,000 square meters – equivalent to about 46 football fields – including administrative areas, all while maintaining ongoing operations. This aims to position Lufthansa Cargo as the most modern air freight location in Europe and further expand its global competitive position.
In Continuous 24-Hour Operation Since 1982
The Lufthansa Cargo Center has been in continuous 24-hour operation seven days a week since 1982 and has established itself as a central hub in global air freight traffic. With 1.4 million tons of freight per year, around 80 percent of the company’s global freight volume is handled there. All current construction measures are precisely on schedule and are expected to be completed by 2030. The construction work is taking place in phases, allowing daily operations to continue uninterrupted. A key feature is the construction of a 42-meter-high high-bay warehouse, one of the tallest buildings at Frankfurt Airport.
