EVE Energy and Green Whale Technology Form Strategic Partnership to Promote Global Marine Battery Usage
The partnership introduces a DNV-certified maritime battery energy storage system (BESS) with a lifespan of 15 years and secure, EU-based digital cloud services.
To advance the future of maritime electrification, EVE Energy and Green Whale Technology (GWT) have agreed to a strategic partnership. The goal is to offer high-performance battery storage solutions (BESS) for maritime applications worldwide. This collaboration combines EVE Energy’s advanced lithium battery technology with GWT’s maritime engineering expertise and service and commissioning know-how.
EVE Energy and GWT have already delivered the first BV-certified maritime battery container ever built in Asia in record time. Both companies are now intensifying their collaboration with a shared vision: to make maritime energy storage solutions more affordable, reliable, and secure while being closer to the customer. The strategic agreement is structured as a back-to-back partnership, ensuring comprehensive support from EVE Energy in all aspects of the collaboration.
Key Features of the New BESS
The new BESS and the collaborative approach exhibit several notable characteristics:
- Thanks to EVE’s active balancing technology, these systems offer a lifespan of up to 15 years, surpassing all currently available LFP systems on the market and significantly reducing overall costs.
- The market for high C-rate maritime batteries has long been dominated by NMC cell-based systems. However, EVE is currently the only provider worldwide offering 3C continuous LFP marine batteries, which provide a longer lifespan than NMC-based systems in many application scenarios.
- The extensive production capacity, advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) chemistry technology, maritime experience, cost advantages, data security, and global service capacity of the alliance demonstrate the potential of this solution to revolutionize the market.
Godfrey Wang, CEO of Green Whale Technology B.V., comments on the partnership: “GWT is very proud of this collaboration, especially as we are a young company. This strengthens our ability to offer lifecycle solutions for global customers. I would like to thank the entire EVE team for their trust and seamless collaboration, and I look forward to our mutual growth.”
Cloud Services and Spare Parts Supply in Europe
To better support customers worldwide, Green Whale Technology is establishing a cloud-based platform in the Netherlands. This guarantees local data compliance, digital security, and minimizes geopolitical risks. The storage of spare parts in Norway and the Netherlands further enhances timely post-sale support, while joint research and development initiatives promise continuous innovations.
Production Capacity and Costs
As one of the largest battery manufacturers in the world, EVE Energy leverages its enormous production capacity of over 10 MWh per day to ensure scalability and timely delivery. Furthermore, the 3C maritime battery system, priced at under 300 USD per kWh, is unique in the current market.
Conclusion
Yong Cong Xiong, Head of Marine & Port at EVE Energy, states: “By collaborating on all key elements of the development, manufacturing, delivery, and service of BESS, we aim to ensure that our customers receive the best available battery technology, supported by global service throughout the entire product lifecycle of our systems. We are very proud to extend the system’s lifespan to 15 years, supported by an experienced local service provider like GWT, and we look forward to deploying these systems in the maritime markets.”
