(Erfurt, 07.05.2020) The Dachser freight forwarding company in Erfurt celebrated the groundbreaking for its new logistics center in Erfurt. In addition to a new 20,000 square meter warehouse with office space, a truck waiting area and parking spaces for trucks are planned. The groundbreaking took place yesterday at Am Lützer Feld in Arnstadt.
Due to the Corona crisis, the groundbreaking event was held in a small circle. “We have been working here in Erfurt for several years in established structures across multiple locations,” says Dr. Rimbert J. Kelber, General Manager of the DACHSER Logistics Center Erfurt. “With the new warehouse, we are consolidating these and offering our customers contract logistics services, i.e., storage and additional services from a single source at a modern location. This opens up opportunities for further growth in the region, as we want to restart after the Corona crisis.”
DACHSER will occupy the new warehouse as a tenant. It is located not far from the existing transshipment terminal on Industriestraße on a plot of land measuring 28,000 square meters and consists of two warehouses, each with 10,000 square meters of storage space. Together, both halls have 20,300 pallet spaces and 8,500 square meters of block storage space. After completion in the first quarter of next year, DACHSER will handle contract logistics activities for various customers from the consumer goods sector at the new facility.
Logistics Services for Customers from the Industrial Goods and Food Sector “Even in times of crisis, we think forward and are confident that we will continue our successful course after Corona at the Erfurt location,” says Alexander Tonn, Managing Director European Logistics Germany, who is responsible for DACHSER’s business in Germany with industrial goods. DACHSER has been present at the Thuringian location since 2004 and provides logistics services for customers from the industrial goods and food sectors.
