(Ulm) Transporeon has taken an important step in its strategy to support sustainable logistics by joining the European Alliance ALICE. ALICE – Alliance for Logistics Innovation through Collaboration in Europe – provides an industry-wide platform for supply chain innovations in Europe. The alliance supports the implementation of the EU research program Horizon 2020 as well as its successor program Horizon Europe. A clear goal of the ALICE initiative is to create climate-neutral logistics by 2050.
With this membership, Transporeon becomes the first Transport Management System (TMS) company within the alliance. Other ALICE members include shippers and retail companies, freight forwarders, vehicle manufacturers, ports, transport hubs, infrastructure providers, IT consulting firms, research organizations, and various national and international associations.
Alice Develops Comprehensive Strategy for Logistics Innovations
Since 2013, ALICE has been working to develop a comprehensive strategy for logistics innovations at the EU, national, and regional levels. The platform also supports and advises the European Commission in implementing its research and innovation program related to the logistics sector. ALICE also aims to increase the logistics efficiency of the EU by 10% to 30% by 2030. This would mean a cost reduction of 100 to 300 billion euros for the European industry.
Members work together in five thematic groups focusing on various strategic areas. Transporeon will contribute its expertise as a provider of digital platforms to the thematic group “Systems & Technologies for Connected Logistics.”
“We are pleased and proud to join this important European initiative,” said Stephan Sieber, CEO of Transporeon. “Digitalization plays a crucial role in making transport logistics more efficient and contributing to emission reductions. We look forward to supporting the industry in paving the way to a zero-emission future. The challenges are immense, but it is our shared responsibility to overcome them.”
“It is great to have Transporeon on board,” commented ALICE Secretary General Fernando Liesa. “The challenge will be to achieve our ambitious climate goals through a seamless transition. With its expertise in cloud computing and data-driven technologies, Transporeon plays an important role in these efforts.”
