August 2020Defying Adverse Circumstances While Seizing Opportunities – Bernhard Simon, CEO of Dachser, on Crisis Management as Part of the Dachser Culture and a Look Back at the Company’s Founding by Thomas Dachser in 1930. A Moment in History That Wasn’t Necessarily Favorable for Starting a Business.
Bernhard Simon, CEO of Dachser, on crisis management as part of the Dachser culture:
“In light of the current Corona pandemic, it is worthwhile to look back to the year 1930. At that time, the circumstances were also incredibly challenging: The Great Depression had fully engulfed Germany, industrial revenues plummeted dramatically, and the domestic transport market collapsed by about 20 percent within a year. For Thomas Dachser, it was a necessarily bold yet forward-looking step to establish his own forwarding and warehousing company in this situation.
Defying adverse circumstances while simultaneously seizing the opportunities that arise in dynamic markets has long become part of the Dachser culture. The ability to solve problems independently runs like a red thread through our now 90-year history. This is accompanied by the courage to take calculated entrepreneurial risks, make decisions, and pursue paths that differentiate from majority opinions and industry trends.
