19. September 2020At the logistics service provider GROUP7, 32 trainees in five vocational training programs and three dual study programs are starting their professional lives these days. Despite Corona, we are training just as many young people as last year.
(Munich) 32 trainees have embarked on a new chapter of their lives at the logistics service provider GROUP7. From Hamburg to Munich: The newcomers are learning their future profession at nine different locations of the company. “Despite the Corona restrictions, we continue to pursue our planned growth path. Therefore, we are giving exactly as many young people as last year the chance to find their place in our dynamic logistics world,” explains Günther Jocher, Board Member of GROUP7.
Dual Study Programs Now Also in Cooperation with DHBW Mannheim
The applicants could choose from five vocational training programs at GROUP7: Merchant for Freight Forwarding and Logistics Services, Merchant for Office Management, Specialist for Warehouse Logistics, IT Specialist for Application Development, and IT Specialist for System Integration. “To further advance the digitization of our processes, we are training trainees in two different professions to expand our own IT department. We want to continue to offer our customers well-thought-out online concepts and real-time data in the future,” comments Daniel Jocher, responsible for training at GROUP7. According to company information, another special feature this year is the number of trainees in the logistics sector. Here, twice as many young people are starting their training compared to the previous year. In addition to the previously mentioned vocational training programs, GROUP7 also offers dual study programs in Business Administration with a focus on Freight Forwarding, Transport and Logistics, Marketing Management, and General Computer Science in cooperation with the universities DHBW Heidenheim and recently with DHBW Mannheim. “A special feature is that the dual students complete their practical phases entirely at GROUP7, thus having the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the company and colleagues early on. This facilitates the professional entry into the company,” explains Daniel Jocher. Currently, six dual students are employed at GROUP7.
Start Adjusted to Covid-19 Restrictions
The start of training under the signs of the pandemic was different from the previous year. Hygiene regulations, minimum distance, minimization of social contacts: “With a heavy heart, we decided due to the Covid-19 situation to postpone our traditional two-day trainee event to summer 2021,” says Daniel Jocher. During the event, the new trainees and new dual students from across the country come together at the headquarters in Munich. The event conveys lived freight forwarding and logistics, for example, through tours of the GROUP7 multi-user logistics center in Munich and the freight area of Munich Airport. Fun is also not neglected at the event. In the evening, there is always a relaxed gathering in the beer garden together with the management. The purpose of the event is to give the trainees and students a sense of belonging.
