27. January 2021Knettenbrech + Gurdulic Service GmbH & Co. KG takes over the first of over 100 Mercedes trucks. The company is among the top ten in the waste disposal and recycling industry in Germany. This large order from Mercedes-Benz Truck underscores the company’s successful trajectory. The first Actros and Arocs were handed over in mid-January 2021 at Taunus-Auto in Wiesbaden. Safety systems are of utmost priority for the waste disposal company.
(Wiesbaden) Mostly short distances and correspondingly frequent starts and stops: The waste disposal industry places the highest demands on the robustness of a truck. On-time delivery and constant availability are also crucial – the requirements for the recycling and waste disposal sector are immense. For this reason, Knettenbrech + Gurdulic Service GmbH & Co. KG always places value on a top fleet. The latest additions are four Mercedes-Benz Actros and Arocs, which were handed over in mid-January 2021. The vehicles are part of a large order for more than 100 Mercedes-Benz trucks as part of the annual tender round of the recycling company.
They were received by Bertram Scholtes, Managing Director of the Knettenbrech + Gurdulic Group – one of the top ten companies in the German waste disposal industry – and fleet manager Bernd-Uwe Zimmer. Bertram Scholtes emphasizes: “We consider ourselves fortunate that, as a successful company in the recycling industry, we were able to implement the largest vehicle order in the company’s history with over 100 units in the second half of 2020 despite a global economic crisis.”
Comprehensive safety package
A decisive factor was also the excellent safety equipment of the Mercedes-Benz trucks. “We want to protect our drivers as well as all other road users as best as possible from accidents. Therefore, we ordered all vehicles, where feasible, with driver airbags, Active Brake Assist 5 with pedestrian detection, and turning assistant,” says Steffen Gurdulic, Managing Director of the Knettenbrech + Gurdulic Group.
Depending on the field of application, additional safety features are included. For example, the trailer stability control assistant, attention assistant, and distance keeping assistant. The package is complemented by a rearview camera and dashcam. The safety philosophy also includes that company founder Steffen Gurdulic retrofits existing vehicles with the turning assistant.
For relaxed driving and resting, the vehicles are equipped with air conditioning or stationary air conditioning with heating and refrigerator.

Diverse range of tasks, wide variety of configurations
Knettenbrech + Gurdulic is broadly positioned with a variety of services related to waste disposal and recycling, and correspondingly diverse is the range of vehicles and configurations. For local and long-distance transport, Actros with 290 to 335 kW power, Arocs (240 to 265 kW), and Atego (175 kW) are provided depending on requirements with ClassicSpace, BigSpace, or GigaSpace cabs. On the superstructure side, the order mainly includes waste collection bodies as well as skip and roll-off tippers. But flatbed and box bodies are also included.
The employees of Knettenbrech + Gurdulic are well prepared for the new vehicles. They have already been extensively trained on the new vehicles and assistance systems in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz TruckTraining.
Expanded service network
“I am pleased that we have a long-standing and loyal customer in Knettenbrech + Gurdulic, for whom innovation and safety are top priorities. An investment of this magnitude at this time is an impressive sign of the company’s successful trajectory,” says Joachim Schlereth, Head of Sales and Services Trucks Germany at Mercedes-Benz.
The vehicles were handed over by Jochen Kreit, Managing Director of Taunus-Auto-Verkaufs-GmbH from Wiesbaden. “We are very pleased to accompany the expansion of the Knettenbrech and Gurdulic Group since its beginnings 70 years ago as a mobility partner and thus contribute to the success of this exceptional company. Mr. Steffen Gurdulic’s loyalty to our company is seen as a recognition of our commitment. It is also an incentive for our entire team to continue to do our best for the mobility of our customers in the future,” says Kreit.
Bertram Scholtes confirms the trusting cooperation for the entire corporate group and adds: “The excellent service network of Mercedes-Benz Trucks provides all our branches with good access to various services related to the vehicle.”
