(Dortmund/Osnabrück) The world-leading manufacturer of pumps and pump systems for building services, water management, and industry, Wilo, and the globally operating full-service provider Hellmann Worldwide Logistics have signed a contract to manage the global flow of goods for the Dortmund company. To this end, Hellmann will operate a new central warehouse for production materials and finished goods in the Dortmund area starting in 2022, ensuring global distribution for Wilo as well as the supply of production for the new Dortmund Smart Factory.
For this purpose, Hellmann has developed a future-proof and simultaneously flexibly adaptable warehouse and logistics concept: The new central warehouse will be strategically located near Wilo’s headquarters with direct access to the Dortmund plant and will also have excellent logistical connections to European production sites and global sales markets.
Logistics processes will be optimized across countries
With Hellmann as an experienced contract logistics service provider, the Dortmund technology specialist will optimize its logistics processes across countries and simultaneously advance its digitalization strategy through the use of smart and requirement-oriented IT solutions. The digital pioneer of the pump industry relies on the expertise of the selected partner, which has demonstrably proven its expertise in this area in numerous customer projects.
In this way, the two family-owned companies are significantly expanding their collaboration, which has so far been limited to transport logistics. On this basis, the cooperation along the entire supply chain is to be expanded in the future, establishing a strategically long-term partnership. Together, the two partners aim to secure sustainable, profitable growth for the future – Wilo as a strong innovation and technology leader and Hellmann as a logistics partner that implements global transport & logistics concepts from a single source, thus ensuring a seamless supply chain.
Strategic partnership along the supply chain
“It was important for us to find a logistics company with a global footprint for a strategic partnership along the entire supply chain. Hellmann convinced us with an innovative overall concept that aligns with Wilo’s growth strategy and simultaneously supports the digital transformation of logistics processes. Moreover, through our previous collaboration, we have already come to appreciate Hellmann’s proven expertise in transport logistics,” said Georg Weber, Chief Technology Officer, WILO SE.
“We are pleased to embark on a growth path with Wilo together, especially in the long term, and to demonstrate our strength as a global full-service provider. Starting in 2022, we will jointly supply the global market with quality products from Wilo,” said Volker Sauerborn, Chief Operating Officer Contract Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
