(Unna/s’Heerenberg/NL) Night Star Express Hellmann BV achieves carbon neutrality through solar panels on the roof of its logistics center in ‘s-Heerenberg. Patrick Löwenthal, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Night Star Express Hellmann B.V., on the installation of sustainable solar technology: “When we expanded our building in 2019, we already replaced the existing lighting in the offices and the crossdock with LED. With the investment in the solar modules, which are expected to deliver 236,412 kWh per year, we can not only achieve an energy-neutral status but also feed the excess solar energy into the grid for other users.”
Consistent Step in the Right Direction
The PV modules are black solar panels from Longi Solar. Two Huawei inverters are used for the conversion to electricity, generating a high efficiency of 98.5%. Since the solar panels were installed on the flat roof, a special horizontal structure had to be used.
Matthias Hohmann, Managing Director of Night Star Express, emphasizes: “In our industry, it is not easy to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable projects. The installation of solar panels is a consistent step in the right direction. Even during the renovation and extension of the logistics center in 2019, Night Star Express Hellmann B.V. focused on using CO2-neutral materials and reducing electricity consumption.”
