14. March 2021The Amber Beverage Group (ABG) is investing €15.5 million in a comprehensive automation solution, including a driverless transport system from Jungheinrich. A high-bay warehouse with 35,000 pallet spaces in eight aisles and a two-aisle automatic small parts warehouse with a 22-meter operational height will be created.
(Hamburg) The international spirits manufacturer Amber Beverage Group (ABG) has commissioned Jungheinrich to build an automatic high-bay warehouse worth €15.5 million in the Latvian capital, Riga.
“For us, it is very important to ensure efficient freight and pallet management for our partners in more than 185 countries, as well as to maintain the speed of investment project development that is characteristic of our company,” comments Jekaterina Stuģe, CEO of Amber Beverage Group. “The majority of our investments will flow into high-tech equipment for our new warehouse. This once again supports our ambitious plan to become one of the ten most influential and modern players in the global spirits industry,” says Jekaterina Stuģe.
Pan-European Significance
“We are pleased that Amber Beverage Group is implementing a logistics automation project of this size. Due to its complexity and level of automation, this project is significant not only for the Baltic market but also across Europe. We will install modern storage and retrieval systems for pallets and small parts, conveyor technology, automatic order-picking systems such as Pick-by-Light and Put-by-Light, as well as driverless transport vehicles, and connect them with a powerful warehouse management system,” comments Māris Supe, Sales Manager at Jungheinrich Lift Truck in the Baltics.
Amber Beverage Group is investing over €33 million in the project, which is being realized in collaboration with artificial intelligence specialists. For the first construction phase, more than 24,000 m2 will be acquired to create automated order storage, assembly and dispatch areas, as well as an administrative area.
Three Existing Warehouses to be Consolidated
In the high-bay area of the warehouse, all processes are fully automated. A total of nine shelf levels can be used to store pallets on top of each other. This allows the warehouse to reach a total height of 24 meters. While the current storage capacity of the company is 25,000 pallet spaces, the new warehouse will provide space for 35,000 pallets, and the storage capacity can be increased to 45,000 pallet spaces if needed. The construction of the new warehouse will consolidate the three existing warehouses of Amber Beverage Group.
