The logistics service provider Fiege is establishing a new logistics center in the province of Noord-Holland. By August 2022, approximately 43,000 square meters of logistics space will be created in Zaandam, north of Amsterdam. Groundwork began at the end of October 2021, and the first piles for the building’s foundation have now been set. The superstructure will commence in the near future.
(Greven/Zaandam) The anchor tenant will be the Dutch subsidiary Fiege B.V., which will consolidate a large part of its customer business on-site and use the office space as its new headquarters. Project partners include Goldbeck Nederland B.V. as the general contractor and the investment company Clarion Partners Europe.
The additional new building with four hall sections is being constructed in close proximity to the existing Fiege branch in Zaandam, which will remain in use. The nearby container terminals in the Amsterdam port and Schiphol Airport make the location an ideal hub in one of the economically strongest regions in Europe. “We are very excited that, together with the expertise and support of our Fiege Real Estate team, we can advance the development of our modern logistics center. We are fully on schedule with the construction progress,” says Pieter van Dop, Managing Director of Fiege B.V.
Certified Sustainability Standard
The property will be built and certified according to the BREEAM Excellent sustainability standard. “In close coordination with the municipality of Zaanstad, we have also focused on a modern and aesthetic design for the exterior of the new logistics center to harmoniously adapt it to the natural surroundings. We are now looking forward to our construction project gaining real momentum and being implemented in the coming months,” explains van Dop. To create a pleasant working atmosphere, the building will be particularly well-lit and will feature numerous charging stations to promote e-mobility. Additionally, Fiege places great importance on native planting in the greening of the outdoor areas.
