6. July 2021The globally active expert organization DEKRA is strengthening its commitment to renewable energies. DEKRA is now a member of the association ‘Hydrogen Europe’. DEKRA will contribute its expertise as a testing, inspection, and certification company (TIC) to the industry association. The goal is to advance the safe and economical use of climate-neutral hydrogen technologies together with other industry players.
(Stuttgart) The industry association ‘Hydrogen Europe’ includes around 260 companies and 27 national associations that promote and further develop application fields for the energy carrier hydrogen and fuel cell technology. DEKRA will engage in numerous committees within the association. DEKRA sees hydrogen as an important building block to achieve the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.
The expertise of a TIC organization like DEKRA is needed throughout the entire value chain of hydrogen technology: for example, in climate-neutral energy generation through wind or solar energy, hydrogen production, transport via pipeline, (water) road or rail, safe fuel cell applications in vehicles or systems, as well as the certification of climate-neutrally produced hydrogen.
Committed to the Principles of the UN Global Compact
This commitment fits into DEKRA’s ambitious sustainability strategy 2025. DEKRA has committed to the principles of the ‘UN Global Compact’ and supports the vision of a sustainable global economy. Furthermore, DEKRA has joined the ‘RE100’ initiative, which entails the commitment to switch completely to renewable energy sources by 2050. DEKRA will be climate-neutral by 2025.
The expert organization DEKRA is also consistently expanding its own innovative portfolio of sustainability-related services to support customers with advanced solutions in the field of sustainability: for example, sustainability consulting and training, product sustainability, certifications, audits, carbon footprinting, supply chain sustainability, sustainability standards in sports, as well as numerous other independent services.
