2. August 2021BIEK Welcomes the New Law on Autonomous Driving
2. August 2021Six aspiring professional drivers took their first step into the working world today at Steden Logistik GmbH. The management and training department of the Westphalian logistics service provider welcomed the newcomers. Representing many small and medium-sized logistics companies in Germany, the example of Steden Logistik aims to show how important the middle class is for the economy.
(Unna) After a brief welcome, a tour of the facility, and some initial organizational matters, the young men will begin their truck driver’s license training in the coming days. Both the practical training part within the company and the vocational school units can currently take place with minimal restrictions.
“In times of a global pandemic combined with the general shortage of skilled workers in our industry, it is anything but easy to find suitable young talent. We are all the happier about our highly motivated new colleagues,” says Anna Steden, authorized signatory at Steden Logistik GmbH. Despite the lack of contact opportunities such as training fairs or school visits, the transport company from Unna has managed to recruit more young people for the driver job again. “We are not yet back to pre-Corona levels, but the trend is rising, and last year was exceptional,” says Steden. A total of twelve aspiring professional drivers are currently in training at Steden Logistik.
Getting Behind the Wheel as Quickly as Possible
The six new colleagues will feel only minor impacts on their practical training despite the ongoing uncertain pandemic situation. However, before the seriousness of professional life begins for the trainees, they first got to know their new work environment and each other today. After the official welcome by Managing Director Frank Steden, authorized signatory Anna Steden, and training manager Stefan Klusenwirth, a tour of the company premises and various departments followed, before the logistics provider equipped its new employees with work clothing and report books. A brief initial visit to the company doctor was also on the agenda. “Now that the prerequisites have been established, the trainees will start in the coming days with the first theoretical and practical units of their driver’s license training, so they can quickly pursue their career goal and get behind the wheel,” says Klusenwirth.
