Aug 26, 2021 at 2:39 PMThe Fulda-based grocery retailer tegut… has commissioned SSI SCHÄFER to build a new logistics center in Hünfeld-Michelsrombach, Hesse. With around 290 supermarkets in Hesse, Thuringia, and Bavaria, as well as Göttingen, Mainz, Stuttgart, and Ludwigsburg, tegut… is enjoying increasing popularity and is on a steady growth path.
(Neunkirchen/Hünfeld) In the heart of the tegut… catchment area and with perfect access to the A7 motorway, the new distribution center is being built in the logistics park “Hessisches Kegelspiel”. From here, the increased number of tegut… markets can be supplied efficiently and reliably thanks to the intralogistics automation technology from SSI SCHÄFER. The expanded product range over the years will find its place in the new logistics center. Additionally, capacities for future growth have been taken into account. On a massive building area of 90,000 m², around 17,000 items will be stored, handled, and prepared for transport at up to 130 shipping gates.
SSI SCHÄFER will construct an 8-aisle automatic high-bay warehouse for tegut…, which will accommodate approximately 38,000 Euro pallets. The rack layout has been aligned with the product range of tegut… in terms of storage capacity and performance and is divided into single and double-deep racks. Since tegut… places great importance on sustainability, energy-efficient rack handling devices of the type SSI Exyz will be used. If necessary, each aisle can be shut down individually.
Small parts warehouse with 85,000 containers
The automatic small parts warehouse has a storage capacity of 85,000 containers. Picking from the five aisles and 26 levels is handled by a total of 15 lifts and 130 SSI Flexi Shuttles. The delivery scope from SSI SCHÄFER also includes 73,000 storage containers, which will stock the products in the shuttle warehouse. These are intended for the transport of items to the picking stations.
Corresponding conveyor technology for large and small load carriers finally connects the automatic storage areas with the seven picking workstations, all of which meet modern ergonomic requirements. To ensure that the processes in the logistics center function smoothly and efficiently, the logistics software WAMAS® is used. Future growth has already been planned in the facility layout, so that expansions regarding the high-bay warehouse, shuttle warehouse, and workstations will be possible at a later date. Construction will begin in summer 2021, and the go-live is planned for 2023.
