28. August 2021The software developer LIS is finally back in the trade fair atmosphere: After a year of pandemic-related pause and months of contact restrictions, NUFAM is taking place again in Karlsruhe. From September 30 to October 3, manufacturers, dealers, and service providers will come together again to discuss the future of the commercial vehicle industry.
(Greven) LIS is participating in NUFAM with two innovations: On the one hand, we are presenting the integrated automatic route planning, and on the other hand, the new cloud service Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). The former is a new module that creates optimized combinations of orders, vehicles, and routes, and thanks to the latter – the new cloud service – can be flexibly subscribed to and accessed over the internet just like the rest of WinSped.
New Cloud Services
Since the Corona pandemic has led to many restrictions on contacts and more digital processes over the past one and a half years, remote work has become increasingly important. With our new cloud service SaaS, freight forwarders and shippers can use WinSped in a subscription model. The only thing they need is an internet connection. This way, not only are the acquisition costs eliminated, but our customers also enjoy high data security, better scalability, and thus financial flexibility – as we host the application including data storage in our new data center. “Through the LIS Cloud, our customers become more resilient to external influences such as a pandemic,” says our board member Magnus Wagner.
Optimizing Routes Made Easy
Route planning is a time-consuming task. Checking availabilities, deploying trucks, and finding routes. All of this can be easily automated with our second innovation. With the integrated automatic route planning, developed in collaboration with flexis AG and PTV Group, Karlsruhe, a large number of shipments can be easily distributed to the available vehicles at the push of a button. Mathematical algorithms calculate an optimized combination of orders, trucks, and routes – under previously defined conditions and resources. This not only increases the efficiency of the vehicles used but also reduces the total kilometers and thus the logistics and transport costs due to better utilization. Wagner emphasizes: “Our new tool has immediate positive effects not only on the economic efficiency but also on the sustainability of the user.” Since the beginning of the year, the systems of flexis AG and PTV have been delivering the pre-planned routes to our customers via online interfaces to our TMS WinSped.
