2. September 2021The Austrian logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss is acquiring Lode GmbH, a freight forwarding company, effective October 1, 2021. The Lode location in Waldkraiburg will be integrated into Gebrüder Weiss’s southern German land transport network. Lode will initially continue to operate under the name GW Lode GmbH, led by the previous co-owner Rüder Lode.
(Lauterach/Waldkraiburg) The international transport and logistics service provider Gebrüder Weiss is acquiring Lode GmbH, based in Waldkraiburg, Bavaria, effective October 1 of this year. With the 100% acquisition of the family-owned company specializing in land transport and warehousing logistics, 60 employees will come under the umbrella of Gebrüder Weiss. Both parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
“The service portfolio of Lode fits perfectly into our southern German land transport network. Together with the employees there, we will further develop the potential of the location and enhance our general cargo network,” says Wolfram Senger-Weiss, Chairman of the Executive Board of Gebrüder Weiss.
With this latest acquisition, Gebrüder Weiss takes another step in its growth strategy in southern Germany. A close network of land transport locations supports shippers from industry and trade in serving their markets in Germany, Austria, and towards Central and Southeastern Europe. The location in Waldkraiburg, situated 70 kilometers east of Munich, complements Gebrüder Weiss’s southern German land transport branches in Aldingen, Esslingen, Lindau, Memmingen, Nuremberg, and Passau.
Integrated into a Comprehensive General Cargo Network
Lode Freight Forwarding, with 60 employees, specializes in land transport, distribution and warehousing logistics, as well as special services. As a partner of the 24plus logistics network, the company is integrated into a comprehensive general cargo network.
Under the leadership of the previous co-owner Rüdiger Lode, the new subsidiary will initially operate under the name GW Lode GmbH. “Under the umbrella of Gebrüder Weiss, new growth opportunities open up for Lode Freight Forwarding. Our customers benefit from a significantly broader range of services, and we can offer our employees new development opportunities,” says Rüdiger Lode.
