Consequences of the Natural Gas Embargo According to BME for Supply Chains Unforeseeable
3. May 2022Over the past few years, leogistics GmbH has evolved from a software and consulting company into a provider of comprehensive logistics solutions. The range of services offered by leogistics includes not only SAP services in the areas of warehousing and transport, SAP Software-as-a-Product with a focus on yard management, and Process-as-a-Service with the logistics platform myleo / dsc but also increasingly hardware components such as terminals, IoT devices, intelligent barcode/RFID reading gates, and OCR cameras, which enable the automation of various processes, especially on factory premises and in warehouses.
(Hamburg) This underscores leogistics’ strategy to grow with its customers and partners and provide a comprehensive package for the digitalization of the supply chain. “Our goal is to create unique and future-proof logistics solutions. Therefore, it is important for us to offer hardware and software from a single source. This provides our customers with a tremendous advantage: they only need one point of contact and can turn to us for all inquiries,” says Christian Piehler, member of the management board of leogistics GmbH.
Central building block IoT for digitalization and automation of logistics
The Internet of Things opens up endless possibilities for process automation, especially in warehouse and factory logistics. By using IoT devices and sensors, data in supply chain as well as yard and transport management processes are automatically updated, allowing for real-time tracking and status monitoring (Real-Time Visibility).
leogistics has a whole range of IoT components for various application scenarios in its portfolio for both customers and partners: These range from intelligent barcode/RFID reading gates for the automatic verification of goods deliveries, cameras for mounting on forklifts or for the automatic recognition of vehicle/truck license plates, IoT smart buttons for easy reordering of defined goods, opening and closing barriers and gates after check-in/check-out, to on-demand solutions for large outdoor displays, indoor monitors, or handheld devices.
Self-Check-In Terminals for factory logistics
To make the transport processing for shippers and drivers easier, safer, and more efficient, leogistics offers its SAP-based solution leogistics Truck for the digitalization of truck processes with its own self-service terminals. In addition, a system-supported truck processing in myleo / dsc is also available. The terminals, available in indoor or outdoor variants, are equipped with touch screens, intercom systems, printers, scanners, and connection options for cameras and scales.
Hardware maintenance and support
A smooth operation on the factory premises or in the warehouse requires that the deployed hardware functions flawlessly. Should a failure occur, leogistics offers emergency processes. For example, if a license plate camera refuses to read a license plate, there is the option to manually enter it into the system. leogistics’ support includes not only maintenance of the hardware but also the integration of emergency processes, extensive diagnostic options via remote maintenance, and the provision of spare parts kits.
Innovative tracking scenarios: collaboration with hardware companies
To expand the logistics platform myleo / dsc with real-time tracking of assets on factory premises, a partnership with Quuppa was established in 2021. While leogistics contributes process expertise and tools for planning, analysis, and optimization of all workflows, Quuppa provides the intelligent tracking hardware based on Bluetooth (BLE).
In the same year, leogistics renewed its cooperation with Kathrein Solutions to create new digitalization opportunities in material and production flow control. The hardware partner brings its innovative auto-ID and localization technologies into myleo / dsc. The active and passive hardware components from Kathrein communicate with the specially developed software CrossTalk, which exchanges real-time RFID or RTLS information with leogistics’ logistics platform. This enables companies to realize various industrial automation or tracking scenarios.
