Digital Customer Platform myDHLi Becomes Smarter and Greener
23. May 2022Dachser secures a hall of around 10,000 square meters in Dettelbach in the Kitzingen district for future contract logistics services. This facility will accommodate 15,000 pallet spaces. On Friday, the symbolic groundbreaking for the new facility took place in the presence of representatives from Dachser, Panattoni, Goldbeck, and local authorities.
(Kempten/Dettelbach) In the new logistics facility, Dachser will primarily handle contract logistics services for customers in the industrial goods and food sectors. This includes transportation, storage, and customer-specific additional services such as order picking and packaging, as well as display construction. The facility can be fully regulated for different temperature ranges, allowing for the storage of refrigerated food products. The highest standards in construction and sustainability were important to Dachser and the project developer for industrial and logistics properties, Panattoni: An old industrial site was renovated for the new facility and developed for commercial relocation, including for Dachser. Completion is planned for mid-2023.
Conveniently Located in the Würzburg Region
The location in Dettelbach is conveniently situated between the A3 and A7 motorways, directly at the Biebelrieder Triangle. With the expansion of a contract logistics site in Dettelbach, the logistics service provider strengthens its presence in the Würzburg area, in the heart of Europe, in addition to the existing hub in Kürnach. “We are a stable partner for our customers and a reliable supplier for the region,” says Alfred Miller, Managing Director of Dachser Food Logistics. “We are investing in the future of the Würzburg location and enabling our customers and potential new clients to grow. Transport and warehousing from a single source reduces complexity, and our multi-user approach creates synergies for our customers.“
The new building also features modern office areas, including rooms for training and meetings. In the medium term, up to 100 commercial and administrative jobs will be created at Dachser in Dettelbach.
Reliable Logistics Partner in Lower Franconia Since 2001
Dachser has been represented in the Würzburg area since 2001 with its logistics center in Kürnach. There, around 170 employees handle approximately 574,200 shipments annually over 7,200 square meters for customers in the industrial goods and food sectors. “Through the connection to Dachser’s dense land transport network, we transport goods from Kürnach to all of Europe,” says Jan-Oliver Schneider, Branch Manager of the Dachser Logistics Center Würzburg. This center is also connected to all relevant global markets through Dachser’s air and sea freight branches in Nuremberg and Frankfurt.
Also a Training Location
Training skilled workers is also very important to Dachser. The family-owned company trains freight forwarding and logistics service clerks, office clerks, warehouse specialists, logistics specialists, and professional drivers in Kürnach and soon also at the Dettelbach location. “We place great value on personal contact with all schools and educational institutions in the region,” explains Jan-Oliver Schneider. “After successfully completing their training, we hire nearly one hundred percent of our trainees. They are the future workforce for our success. Our employees are the heart of our success.”
